CONDITIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE CONDUCT OF SENIORS ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENTS.

1.0Tennis Seniors Queensland requires all Tennis Qld sanctioned seniors/veterans round robin tournaments to adopt the following conditions and guidelines for the conduct of seniors/veterans tournaments.

The following tournament conditions must appear on the tournament entry form. insert applicable information relating to your tournament in the highlighted sections. For information on fee charges, please contact the Secretary of TSQ. For clubs/associations who have access to the internet, a template entry form is now available on TSQ’s website , click on Resources. also available are the revelant TQ reporting forms.

1.1Tournament Conditions:-

  1. This tournament is sanctioned by Tennis Queensland (TQ) and approved by Tennis Seniors Qld (TSQ) and shall be conducted in accordance with the TSQ Conditions and Guidelines for the conduct of Seniors Round Robin Tournaments and The Tennis Australia & Member Association Events Disciplinary Policy.
  2. The Tournament Management Committee, hereinafter referred to as the “Committee” shall have the entire control and management of the Tournament. Any matter not specifically covered by these conditions shall be resolved by the Committee, whose decision shall be final.
  3. All Queensland resident tournament players MUST be financial members of Tennis Seniors Qld (TSQ $20.00). Players must produce their MYTENNIS ID card if requested. Special Condition: Players from other states/countries who are NOT full members of a recognised Senior Club/Assoc, MUST pay a temporary membership fee of $10.00 for this tournament ONLY.
  4. Players may enter one event ONLY from each session. A player entering in a Doubles Event without naming a partner shall accept the partner allocated by the Committee. However this does not impose any obligation on the Committee to find a partner.
  5. Tiebreak Rule: The Seniors tie-break rule will be used during this tournament, play one point and change ends and then change after every four points.
  6. ENTRY FEES: Singles ($ fee); Doubles ($ fee) per player.
  7. Entries close (insert closing date), with the (insert name of person and address receivingentries). Cheques to be made payable to (insert name of body conducting the tournament)
  8. All players must submit a separate entry form accompanied by fees and sign the Player Agreement and Release Statement. No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by entry fees. Phone/Fax/Email entries will not be accepted. Late entries will not be accepted. No refunds will be given after the draw has been made.
  9. Four or more entries must be received in an Event to guarantee the running of that event, otherwise age groups may be combined.
  10. If sufficient nominations are received, A and B grade divisions will be conducted.
  11. Commencement time: Morning session 8.00 a.m. – Afternoon session 1.00 p.m. No morning matches/finals to commence after 12.30 p.m. Any morning matches/finals not completed will be played at the completion of the afternoon matches on the same day and under lights if necessary.
  12. Play must commence on time. One 3 minute warm-up allowed per player per session.
  13. Winners Formula: SETS WON, if equal – games won, if equal – games against, if equal – winner when the player/pairs played.
  14. It is the players responsibility to ascertain their draw and playing venue and be in attendance at the courts fifteen minutes before their scheduled time of play.
  15. This Tournament is open to all players who are 35 years and over as at 31st December, (Year)
  16. (insert ball name) balls will be used exclusively for the Tournament.
  17. In entering the Tournament, a player automatically grants Tennis Queensland and Tennis Seniors Queensland the right in perpetuity to make, use and show pictures of him/her, motion or still, taken during the competition without compensation.

1.2The following entry form format should be used in all seniors/veterans round robin tournaments.

2.0Guidelines:

An Official TA Referee must be appointed and must not be the Tournament Director, or a player or club member who is not a qualified referee.

‘B’ Grade events to be held whenever entries justify, regardless of economics.

Seedings: Tennis Seniors Australia and ITF Ranking Lists should be referred to regarding seedings, also the Tournament Director should contact the TSQ State Secretary regarding assistance from the State Selectors with seedings if required.

Events should be seeded as follows:

Seeded players should be drawn to play their last set against each other. (Where there is more than one section, winners of each section should be available for semis/finals as soon as practicable).

Playing Format: 3 players/pairs, play each player/pair twice, first to 6, tiebreak 5 all

4 players/pairs, 1 section, first to 8, tiebreak at 7 all

4 players/pairs, 2 or 3 sections first to 7, tiebreak at 6 all.

4 players/pairs, 4 or more sections, first to 6, tiebreak at 5 all

5 or 6 players/pairs, first to 6, tiebreak at 5 all.

Events with uneven players/pairs, place the greater number of players/pairs in Section 1 with the no.1 seed.

(i.e. 9 players/pairs - 5 in Section 1 and 4 in Section 2 OR 13 players/pairs – 5 in Section 1 and 4 in Sections 2 & 3 – refer to the seedings placement above)

Maximum players/pairs per section of each event:

6 player/pairs maximum in eachsection – except for special format for one Section with 7 players ONLY(see below).

SPECIAL FORMAT FOR 7 PLAYERS/PAIRS:

7 players/pairs in one section, if courts are available (3 courts required) tournaments may play this format: 7players/pairs, first to 5 games, tiebreak at 4 all.

Tiebreak Rule: The Seniors tie-break rule must be used during Senior tournaments, play one point and change ends and then change after every four points.

Players should not be relocated in an event more that 10 years below the age nominated by them, without notification. Also Players must be notified if a lack of entries cancels their event.

Winners Formula:SETS WON, if equal – games won, if equal – games against, if equal – winner when the player/pairs played each other.
