-T greets SS and has the usual conversation with them.

Are you ready for the lesson?

AIMS: - to lead in the SS to the topic of the lesson ;

-T will play NO DOUBT song DON’T SPEAK. While they are listening they have to put the words that are missing from the lyrics.
- T elicits from the Ss the missing words and tells them that today they are going to learn about IMPERATIVES and writes the title on the BB. / T-Ss

ACTIVITY 3: ELICITATION/STUDY

AIM:-to introduce new structures

-to elicit from the Ss when we use IMPERATIVES

  1. T gives SS worksheets where SS, working in pairs, have to match the two halves of the sentences.
1.Write a) a good time.
2.Look up b) this shirt.
3. Buy c) the eggs with the butter.
4. Mix d) yourself .
5. Cheer up e) its meaning in the dictionary.
6. Help f) Tom.
7. Have g) the whole sentence down.
Then SS read their sentences aloud.
2. T elicits from the SS what we use imperatives for and writes on the BB. SS will write on their notebooks.
IMPERATIVES ARE USED TO TELL PEOPLE:
-what to do and not to do;
-to give advice;
-to give instructions;
-to encourage and offer;
-to express wishes for other people.
Imperatives have the same form as infinitive without TO. For the negative we use DON’T. / IW

ACTIVITY 4: ACTIVATE

AIM:to provide further practice on the use of imperatives

MATERIALS: textbook, worksheet, BB

PROCEDURE / INTERACTION / TIMING
-T asks SS to open their books and look at the pictures from page 122, ex. 1a, and warn people from the fair:
DON’T smoke in the car park.
DON’T walk on the grass.
DON’T bring animals to the circus.
DON’T take pictures.
DON’T leave the water tap on.
Watch the acrobats.
- SS working in groups of three will say what MIKE’s mother said to him before going to the fair.
Then they will write the instructions on the right column. Ex 2b/123 from the textbook.

Buy a ticket. Don’t run.
Be careful when you cross the road. Don’t eat too much ice cream.

AIM: -to give SS controlled practice in using imperatives

-to give SS freer practice .

1.Ss will write what each sign from ex 4/64 from the activity book means, using the given words.
2.Then SS will ,,make” a paper hat. They are asked to put the scrambled instructions in order. Ex 3a/123 from the textbook.
3. After that SS will help Kevin to prepare a vegetable stew: ex 2/63 from the activity book.
4. Mime Game: T shows SS some instructions, orders and SS have to do what it is written on the BB
