Teacher Assistant Program(TAP) is a mentoring program. The goal of the program is to assist our new teachers by helping them become aware of the goals and philosophies of MHS. The objective of this program is to assign a mentor teacher whose roll will be one of nurturing, support, and instructional leadership to each new teacher. Experienced teachers who are new to our campus will also be assigned a teacher that will help them to become familiar with policies, rules, and procedures to ensure maximum success. The high school principals will be responsible for overseeing the progress of TAP.

TAP Guidelines:

Mentor teacher will:

  • Be available to answer any questions and/or concerns that may arise.
  • Make suggestions on teaching strategies, student learning styles, seating arrangements, classroom discipline procedures, etc.

Teacher new to the profession will:

  • Be open, and willing to accept new ideas and flexible enough to try them. ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS.

Experienced teacher:

Teachers that are new at MHS that have experience in the profession will be assigned a mentor teacher. The mentor teacher should be available to answer questions or be willing to assist in any way asked.

NOTE: It is the administration's hope that this program will help make the transition for our new staff members a smooth one. Suggestions for change or improvement are welcome. Please do not hesitate to make your ideas known throughout the year. By doing this, we can continually fine tune it and make it even better!
