INFORMATION ABOUT SWEA
SWEA International, Inc. is a nonprofit organization for Swedish-speaking women who live (or have lived) abroad. Its purpose is to support and promote the Swedish language, culture and traditions. SWEA has approximately 7,500 members in 70 local chapters in 33 countries on five continents.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:
SWEA Orange County gives out an annual scholarship to full time students interested in learning about Swedish culture by pursuing studies in Sweden. In the past, scholarship recipients have been students from the
University of California, Irvine, who have participated in a “study abroad” program at the University of Lund in Sweden. We want the student to study fulltime this upcoming fall semester at University of Lund.
This year, SWEA will give a scholarship of a sum up to $3,000 to one student, or to be divided between two students, depending on the students’ qualifications and their length of stay in Sweden. (Relatives and/or dependents of SWEA members are not eligible.)
To apply, the student must submit the following information:
1. Completed application form
2. Academic transcripts
3. At least two (2) professional letters of recommendation (Copies are OK)
4. Resume
5. A signed Essay describing:
• Purpose of visit to Sweden
• Reason for interest in Sweden
• Special reasons why student qualifies for scholarship
After a recipient is chosen, he or she is under no obligation to SWEA-OC. However, SWEA members would appreciate hearing from the scholarship recipient through an occasional update about his or her experiences in Sweden. Upon his/her return to California, the student will be expected to attend a SWEA event and informally share his/her experiences and impressions of Sweden.
The scholarship application must be sent via e-mail no later than April 30, 2018
