Service Desk Analyst – Information Services Vacancy Reference HQRSS139

Temporary up to 12 months: 29.6 hours per week, working Monday to Friday (The core business hours of the IS Service Desk are 8 am – 6pm, Monday to Friday.)

Salary: £23,799 to £27,267 pro rata

Based at Sherwood Lodge, Arnold, Nottingham

Information Services deliver a broad range of information and communication related services to the Force. These range from the planning, design, transition, operation and the continual service improvement of services based upon the industry standard ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) framework.

Working as part of a busy team you will assist Information Services to support the business processes of the Force in an effective and efficient manner.

You will be responsible for responding to requests for support by providing information to enable incident and service request resolution and to promptly escalate unresolved calls as appropriate.

You will provide first and second line technical support within the ITIL framework, Investigating and resolving Windows desktop issues, user queries regarding Microsoft Office and Force systems, simple network and printer problem diagnosis, choosing a suitable solution and taking the necessary remedial action that meets customer and Force requirements.

·  The successful applicant will have recent proven experience in performing the tasks of Service Desk, Incident management, Request Fulfillment & Access Management. Has experience of

o  Ensuring that incidents and requests are handled to agreed procedures

o  Ensuring that documentation of the supported components is available and in an appropriate form for those providing support.

o  Creating and maintaining support information.

·  The successful applicant will have proven experience of supporting the following technologies:

o  Microsoft Windows 2000/XP

o  Office 2003

o  Microsoft Exchange 2003

o  Active Directory 2003

o  Remote Access

Experience of working within an ITIL based organisation and qualification to ITIL Foundation level is essential

Additionally you must be aware of the Data Protection and Computer Misuse Acts. It is imperative that you have good communication skills.
