Good afternoon I am just going to give a whistle stop tour of the various roles that come under my remit.

ENGLAND GOLF REPRESENTATIVE FOR BUCKS

( Midlands South Region )

The role of the EG Rep is to liaise with the other 5 Mid South Representatives, to co-ordinate the Mid South competitions and, as the voting member for the county, to attend the EG General Meetings. Very much a communications role.

Midland South Region Competitions 2014

• County Week, Northampton, 23 – 27 June

• EWGA Regional Medal Final, Tadmarton Heath, Oxon, 13 May

[ 18 hole strokeplay; 10 from each of 6 Regional Finals qualify for Grand Final ]

• Ladies Championships, Redditch, Worcs & Hereford, 24 July

[ 36 hole stroke play; handicap limit 16 ]

• Australian Spoons, Reading, Berks, 24 July

[ 18 holes stableford 4sms; h’caps 15 – 36, previously Bronze players only ]

• Girls’ Championships, The Buckinghamshire, 1 September

[ 36 holes stroke play, max. handicap 20.4 ]

• Better Ball, Copt Heath, Warwicks, 2 October

[ 18 holes 4 ball better ball medal play; max. individual handicap 24 ]

Every year there is one competition organised by each of the counties, except the year after hosting County Week, that county is given a year off when the Medal Final is organised by England Golf.

GIRLS’ CHAMPION 2014 – SHAMISO HATCHARD

The stand out performance of the year was Shamiso winning this championship with a 36 hole aggregate gross score for 36 holes of 1 under par, 4 shots ahead of the rest of the field.

County Week, Harborne, Birmingham, 21 -26 June

Midland South Medal Final,Wellingborough, 10 May

Australian Spoons, Fulford Heath, Worcs, 20 July

Ladies/Girls’ Champs, North Oxford, 14 August

4 Ball Better Ball, Berkshire, TBA

Due to low numbers entering the Ladies Championships this year the event was cancelled. Next year it will be combined with the Girls’ Championships. We were due to host the Ladies Champs and so there will not be a Mid South event in Bucks next year.

• National Development & Secretaries Conference

• Regional Meetings

A summary of the meetings that either I or Karen have attended.

This year has focused on the final drafting and launch of the England Golf Strategy Plan. A full report of the meetings has been presented at the Delegates’ Meetings and are available on the website. These slides will also be uploaded onto the website.

• The England Golf County Golf Partnership (CGP) are represented by:-

Ashley Rump, Regional Manager

Rajiv Patel, County Development Officer

Lydia Johnston, Assistant Development Officer

Rajiv is due to leave the CGP at the end of this month – a replacement will be recruited.

CGP FUNDING

Two sources of income:-

England Golf –funds received via Sport England

BB&O Union & 3 Associations

The funding is committed from both sources until 2017 when a new application will be made to Sport England.

Key Activities of the CGP

• The County Academy Programme (from 2015 this will be run by the Associations)

• Golf Mark –assistance with the clubs

• Get into Golf Centres –26+ age group

• Feel Inspired (Disability) Academy

The emphasis has changed in the last year. To achieve the targets set by Sport England in order to retain the funding, the key age group is now 26+. The running of the Academy Coaching Programme for juniors will now be taken on by the Associations.

USGA RATING

• Men & Ladies USGA course rating done at the same time

• Multiple rating of tees –White, Yellow & Red

• Qualifying competitions can be held from any tee once the SSS has been calculated

• 41 clubs in Bucks –10 years to do them all

• 4 clubs rated in 2014 –on target!

• Course changes to be notified to me a.s.a.p.

I have been doing the rating this year with Rod Crisp from the BB&O Union. As we now do the rating for the Men at the same time we have four of us in the team.

Some counties have done none!
