IAW REFS A THROUGH H, THE REPUBLIC OF TUNISIA, ARMEE NATIONALE TUNISIENNE (TAF), AND MARFOREUR/AF WILL CO-HOST THE AL17-2 (CARTHAGE 2017)FPE IN TUNIS, TUNISIAFROM 05-09 JUNE 2017. THE PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE IS TO CONDUCT DETAILED PLANNING WHILE BUILDING ON PROGRESS MADE AT THE MPE. IN ADDITION, U.S.PERSONNEL WILL CONDUCT PRE-DEPLOYMENT SITE SURVEYS (PDSS) TO CONDUCT DROP ZONECERTIFICATION AND AIR WORTHINESS ASSESSMENT ON TUNSIAN AIRCRAFT THAT WILL BE USED IN PARACHUTE AND AIR ASSULAT OPERATION.

2. (U) BACKGROUND. AL17-2 IS A CJCS SPONSORED, USAFRICOM SCHEDULED, COMBATANT COMMANDER’S (CCDR) EXERCISE AND ENGAGEMENT (CE2) FUNDED, JOINT AND COMBINED EXERCISE CONDUCTED BY MARFOREUR/AF. AL17-2 WILL BE CONDUCTED AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS WITHIN TUNISIA ON/ABOUT 17-27 AUGUST 2017. AL17-2 IS SCHEDULED TO CONSIST OF A BI-LATERAL AIRBORNE AND FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE (FTX) FOCUSING ON THE USAFRICOM THEATER CAMPAIGN PLAN (TCP) LINES OF EFFORT (LOE) 2. AL17-2 IS DESIGNED TO EXERCISE THEATER SECURITY COOPERATION PLANS (TSCP), AND THE COUNTRY COOPERATION PLAN (CCP).DESIRED END STATE: 1) SUBORDINATE COMPONENTS/UNITS ARE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH APPLICABLE COMPONENT/UNIT TRAINING OBJECTIVES AND ASSIGNED MISSIONS, OPERATE WITHIN FLEXIBLE AND ADAPTABLE JOINT MISSION COMMAND CONSTRUCTS, RAPIDLY RESPOND TO CRISES, AND PREVAIL AGAINST ANY INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANIZATION THAT POSE A THREAT TO U.S. NATIONAL INTERESTSOR PARTNERS. 2) TAFARE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE AN IMPROVED ABILITY TO COUNTER VIOLENT EXTREMIST ORGANIZATIONAL (VEO) THREATS WITHIN THEIR OWN COUNTRYAND ARE INTEROPERABLE WITH U.S. FORCES AND OTHER PARTNERS IN SUPPORT OF USAFRICOM TCP LOE2.
