Program Assessment Example

Standard / Narrative and Documentation
A fair, valid and reliable assessment of the candid-ate’s status with respect to the TPEs is embedded in the program design. / The Teacher Performance Assessment Tasks are the four tasks and the rubric for evaluating each that were developed under the auspices of The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. These are not included in this submission, as they are readily available and it is presumed that the readers are well acquainted with them.
Practice for the Teacher Performance Assessment Tasks is quite specific. As stated before, teacher candidates complete the SSP task and the DI task during the Fieldwork semester. During the Student Teaching semester students complete the CTE and the AL tasks. Throughout the semester, candidates are given instruction for the tasks during ED500 Practicum and ED560 Colloquium. They are involved in activities such as discussing task language, examining responses rated 4 and 2, talking over types of information that is being asked for, and learning about formatting and other aspects of the requirements such as permission slips, due dates, and requirements for successful completion of the assessment.
