STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR THE 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR
Counselors are meeting with junior students and parents during the months of December-Januaryto go over records and advise on course selections for next year. Teacher recommendation and parental input will be utilized in this selection process.
Registration packets with information outlining the scheduling process will be distributed to freshman and sophomores beginning in late-January. 8th grade students and parents will receive scheduling information at the 8th grade orientation meeting on Wednesday, February 17th at 6:30pm in the high school performing arts center.
FINANCIAL AID MEETING
All parents of seniors applying for college financial aid should attend a very informative meeting on Thu.,Jan. 7th, at 7:00p.m. in the high school PerformingArtsCenter. A financial aid advisor from GrandValleyStateUniversity will provide a general overview of the financial aid process and a step-by-step description of how to file the financial aid form (FAFSA). He will assist students and parents with financial aid concerns at any institution.
SENIOR REMINDER
All seniors applying for financial aid (2016-17 school year), must file the FAFSA (Financial Aid Form) before mid-February. The preferred way to apply is online at Make sure you are using the .gov website as for profit businesses have taken on similar domain names. You should never pay a fee to file to Federal Financial aid.
FINALIZING COLLEGE DECISIONS
Seniors with acceptance notices to more than one institution should be planning final
visitations to assist with their selection. Contact your counselor if you need assistance.
May 1st is the commitment deadline date. This means you have until that date to
make your final decision based on college characteristics and financial aid assistance.
ATTENTION JUNIORS-MICHIGAN MERIT EXAM (MME)/ACT DATES
All juniors will begin the Michigan Merit Exam (MME) on Tue., Apr. 12 (SAT), Wed., Apr. 13(WorkKeys) and Thu., Apr. 14 (M-STEP). The SAT test is free to all juniors and can be used in the college admissions process.
ACT INFORMATON

KENT CAREER TECHNICAL CENTER VISITS ARE AVAILABLE
Sophomores or Juniors interested in attending KCTC for the 2016-17 school year are encouraged to schedule a program visit with their guidance counselor. Call or stop in the guidance office for additional information.
