1  What are A3 Summaries?

A3 summaries are an extended and illustrated abstract of your work, which people can use during the presentations to have a quick grasp of the topics being presented. The A3 will contain a concise summary of the main points addressed in your work. [example of style ‘Text First’]

This is especially important, given that some conference attendees have elected to have an electronic proceedings and thus will not have your paper or poster in front of them. An example has been provided. Please try to use the headings indicated here. [example of style ‘Text Running’ as well as character style 'Underline']

The A3s will be prepared on two A4 pages, as indicated in this template, which can be printed on facing pages in a spiral book. The way the margins are set should not be changed. Notice that the margins are mirrored because the spiral binding will be placed in the middle of the two pages. YOU MAY NOT RUN BEYOND 2 PAGES. The internal margins for the A3 are 2.5 cm and all the other margins are 1.5 cm. You can use photos, figures, graphs, and tables to illustrate your ideas.

2  Formatting [example of style ‘heading 1’]

In this template, MS Word ‘Styles’ have been defined and are used in this document. Please apply them to format all your text. Use only the styles in this template. Do not manually set the font, font size, or other characteristics of any text. Do not alter any style definitions. In fact, the document is voluntarily restricted so that you can only use the styles in the list of Styles available in the Home tab. The text in red in this template document illustrates the first use of some of those Styles. Your submission should be free of any of this red text. If you encounter a situation that can truly not be addressed using the current list of styles, please contact the first author (Frédéric Bosché).

·  The default language is English; both UK English and American English are acceptable, but please select one and use it consistently. [example of style 'List Bullet']

·  To apply a character style (e.g. Strong, Emphasis, Superscript, Subscript, underline), select the set of characters (e.g. words) and click on the character style in the list of Styles.

·  Your document must NOT exceed 2 pages.

·  You can use photos, figures, graphs, and tables to illustrate your ideas.

·  You must prepare and submit your document as a Microsoft Word (Word, in short) document in .docx file extension (not .doc extension), using the Conference Management System at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=lc3.

3  Contents

·  Background and Identification of Problem /Knowledge Gap section gives the context and then narrows it down to the actual problem or knowledge gap focused on.

·  Research Aim and Methodology section articulates the specific aim of the research and then states the methodology.

·  Research Findings section summarises the (anticipated) research findings reported in the paper, and provides (preliminary) conclusions.

The working hypothesis of this document is the following: We expect the authors to adhere to this template so that the A3s can be printed as planned and the important information regarding the background of your paper, the current condition, the method used to develop the work, and main conclusions will be available.

4  Summary

·  A3s are considered important tools that can quickly convey a message by using text, figures, photos, and graphs aiming at promoting understanding.

·  The objective is for the A3 to convey the essence, the critical points of your paper or poster.

·  Focus on the conclusions of your paper and not so much on the literature unless your paper is based on a literature review. Present and discuss your contributions to the W78, CONVR and/or IGLC community.

·  Should you have any questions please contact the Programme Chairs, Frédéric Bosché () or Kenneth Walsh ()
