Dear Faithful Brother Knights and Families:
I was reading a recent publication and noted the statistic that 44 percent of Americans will move from one religion to another in their lifetime. I find this to be simply astonishing! Don’t you?
I suppose that if this statistic reflected a serious pursuit of the truth on the part of those who migrate from one faith to another, it could be interpreted in a positive. I believe that manty of us recognize that some of you came to the Catholic faith at a considerable personal cost. But the evidence suggests that for too many of us religion like clothes is a matter of taste. Religion like a pair of jeans is something that we wear when we like it and discard when we don’t. Brothers this type of behavior suggests that we place self before God.
The seriousness of our faith is fundamentally compromised if we do not bring to it a sincere desire to know God, to learn why he created us, to discover the ultimate purpose of life and to give ourselves wholeheartedly to Him.
If we reduce our faith to personal preference rather than the claims of objective truth, to personal comfort rather than sacrificial gift, to personal convenience rather than self-commitment, then religion becomes empty. Personal disappointment with a priest, a bishop or a pastoral decision that we may disagree with can then become our foolish justification for the abandonment of our religion.
The good news is that God has rescued us from religious dilettantism. He has once and for all revealed the way, the truth and the life. We are called to be men of prayer whose faith in Him is intended to penetrate the deepest recesses of our souls. He promised through his body and blood to be with us in that one Church, which is holy, and apostolic, until the end of time even when we sin.
My brothers, we must be accepting of all that God gives, and we must bend all of our energies to serve Him in the way He wishes. The essence of perfection is to embrace the will of God in all things, prosperous or adverse. In these trying times, we should always offer our thanks to God, because we should always be fully persuaded that He does all things for his glory and our greater good. We should always be at peace, no matter what happens.
Fraternally,
Danny Garcia
Council 10232 Service Activities
Church Activities
First Saturday Mass and Benediction October 7th
The council has been actively supporting the First Saturday devotion conducted on the first Saturday of each month. Mass begins at 8:30am in the chapel, which will be followed by Holy Hour with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
Council Prayers for Priests Team
The purpose of this program is to pray for our priests by name on a daily basis for his priestly intentions and his personal sanctification. This is accomplished through a team concept. When a priest is selected, a Team Leader is identified to recruit six other team members thus forming a seven-member team. Each Team Member attends Mass on his designated day of the week, recites at least one decade of the Holy Rosary daily, also recites the Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily, and says the Daily Commitment Prayer daily. Participation in this program is not restricted to members of the Knights of Columbus, but would be open for participation to any Catholic desiring to participate. I hope you will offer your full support to this program and will be an active participant. Please contact Brother Joe McCarty to volunteer at .

Prayer For September
Prayer for the Family
St. Teresa of Calcutta
Heavenly Father, you have given us the model of life
in the HolyFamily of Nazareth. Help us, O Loving Father, to make ourfamily
another Nazareth where love, peace and joy reign.
May it be deeply contemplative, intensely Eucharistic, revived with joy.
Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow infamilyprayer.
Teach us to seeJesusin the members of our families,
especially in their distressing disguise.
May the Eucharistic heart ofJesusmake our hearts humble like his
and help us to carry out ourfamily duties in a holy way.
May we love one another asGodloves each one of us,
more and more each day,
and forgive each other's faults as you forgive our sins.
Help us, O Loving Father, to take whatever you give and
give whatever you take with a big smile.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, cause of our joy,
pray for us.
St. Joseph, pray for us.
Holy Guardian Angels,
be always with us,
guide and protect us.
Amen.
