Stonehouse Community Council

Report by Councillor Margaret Cooper

18th February 2013

Please find below details of work I have been progressing and associated reports that may be of interest:

1.  Public Park:

A significant amount of work has been carried out over the last few weeks with two teams attached to different jobs.

A massive clearing up job was undertaken and several truck loads of leaves removed. The entrance to the park and the area around the road has been cleared. A number of bushes have been trimmed and cut back for the spring. Paths were cleared although there was some difficulty because of frost.

Fencing has been replaced around the Pre 5 play area adjacent to the entrance to the park. A new seat has been installed at the lower play area. The swings at the top/bottom play locations and associated pre 5 play equipment was stripped back and has now been repainted.

Further fencing remains to be installed at the bottom of the park.

2.  NHS Stonehouse Hospital Site & Vacant Ground

Following a letter and photographs from me to NHS Lanarkshire some clearance work has been undertaken. A team was on site for two days. Grass overgrowing the public footpath adjacent to the A71 was cleared. A significant amount of clearance work took place around and beyond the entrance to the new hospital.

Whilst the place looks much tidier I will continue to pursue NHS to make safe the rusty railings and to clear or spray the overgrown vegetation on the site.

3.  Garden Area opposite Canderavon Home.

This area has been cleared, reorganised and prepared for planting.

4.  Garden Area adjacent to housing and along A71 towards Lifestyles.

This area has been cut back and prepared for planting

5.  Mc Lean Gardens/Bowling Club Car Park

I established ownership of the car park and following my request much needed repairs to numerous potholes have now been carried out
