Position: Socials Director
Reason why I am nominating myself:
I have seen through my first year at law school, the events and initiatives hosted by the UTS LSS, that boost both engagement and enjoyment at university; and now I want to be involved. I am attracted to the position of Socials Director as I believe student engagement is paramount to the university experience and I want to continue and expand such events throughout 2018. I am extremely passionate, involved and I want to share the great experiences I have had through social events this year with others next year.
Experiences which will assist me:
I have run events throughout school in various leadership positions, culminating as a prefect in Year 12, where I had to collaborate in a team and organize a vast array of events. In 2016, I spent the year working under the Marketing Department in an organization situated in England. I organised promotional and networking events as well as running the weekend activities. I am an organised, reliable and responsible individual who can be counted on to put in the time and effort to ensure Socials 2018 is a success. I have also been a member of the Justice Action Committee this year and as a result I know the importance of teamwork, and recognise the greater responsibilities that will be afforded to me as a Director.
What I will bring to the role:
I will bring an innovative and fresh new outlook to the socials portfolio. I will be committed to the role and will help to make the society more welcoming and inclusive to all law students where all ideas are listened to. I am committed to improving social events so that all come to fruition in the best possible way that reflect well on council but are also lots of fun.
What I will assist the council with next year:
I am determined to increase attendance at events through enhancing community engagement and amassing awareness of events throughout the law faculty rather than just regular event attendees. I will liase with other faculties and societies to ensure that major events do not clash. I also recognize that the UTS LSS is one giant team and I will be happy and willing to work with other portfolios to guarantee the success of the tenure.
