September 9 along at the Sebastian Inlet Fishing Museum in celebration of "September is

1 PM Literacy Month." This fun event will feature nature themed books for children age nine and under. There will also be games and prizes. Meet at the Sebastian Fishing Museum located of the south side of Sebastian Inlet.

Saturday, Sept. 16Coastal Cleanup

8 to 11 AM As part of the statewide Florida Coastal Clean Up, Sebastian Inlet State Park is

looking for volunteers to help keep our beautiful beaches clean. Volunteers from all over Florida will unite to pick up litter and help keep our beaches clean. The volunteers sign in booths will be on both the Brevard and Indian River County sides of the park. Enjoy a morning stroll down the beach while lending a hand. Saturday, Sept. 16 Sebastian Inlet Regular Joe Surf Festival

& Sunday, Sept. 17 See some of the best local surfers completing in this benefit surf contest! The Regular Joe Surf Festival benefits the Sebastian Inlet Charter of Surfrider Foundation. Labeled as a “Contest for the Rest of Us”. The location of the surf contest is by the North Jetty. Back up dates for poor waves conditions are September 23 & 24. Saturday, The Reebok Ragnar Relay Florida South Beach

November 11 The Reebok Ragnar Relay Florida South Beach is a 200-mile-long distance

7 AM to 3 PM running relay. It starts in Melbourne Beach and finishes in Miami Beach. Teams of 12 people run relay style through 36 designated exchange locations. Sebastian Inlet State Park’s Day Use Area is the second stop in this relay race. The relay race has staggered start times all morning long. For more information visit

Saturday, Night Sounds at Sebastian Inlet Concert Series – Rod Macdonald

December 2 Rod MacDonald is a folk singer and songwriter, novelist, and educator. Since the

7 to 9 PM mid-seventies he has released 11 solo recordings in the United States, 8 in Europe, and 21 songs with Smithsonian Folkways. In 2006, he became an instructor for the Florida Atlantic University, hosting the lecture and performance series "Music Americana", where he was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award in 2012. Rod MacDonald has been named one of the "Ten Greatest South Florida Folksingers of All Time." His CD “Later that Night" reached the top ten in national folk music charts in 2014. As part of the band called Big Brass Bed, they were named the "Best Folk Band" in 2016 in Palm Beach County. The content of Rod MacDonald’s songs covers political and social events. 7 to 9 PM reformed with some new band members which have ignited the positive reggae vibe.

Alize also blends other types of music into their show including Island, SOCA, Top 40, Funk, Soft Rock and even a little country.

Sunday, First Day Hike

January 1 Start the New Year off with a "First Day Hike" at Sebastian Inlet State Park. We

8 AM to 10 AM will meet at the T-Dock on the south side of Sebastian Inlet, at 8 AM. The ranger led moderate paced inlet walk and beach walk is two miles in length. Please no pets and no smoking. Bring a water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, bug spray, hat and sun protection. Regular park admission fees apply.

Saturday, Night Sounds at Sebastian Inlet State Park Concert Series with recording

February 17, artists SIRSY SIRSY is an Indie Pop Rock duo that The Boston Globe calls

7 to 9 PM “Little band, big sound.” SIRSY music is chock full of soul and sincerity, with a touch of sass. They have six CD’s of original music. Their lyrics can be a little dark or introspective but their stage presents radiates joy. The Times Union says “Clever, smart songs with more hooks than a tackle box.” Melanie Krahmer’s voice is capable of a lion’s roar or a floaty whisper. Rich Libutti’s guitar work has been called “Killer rock guitar riffs” by Instrumental Magazine. Together they have created a dynamic, full sound. Their newest CD was produced by Grammy-winning producers, Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade. The concert will take place at the pavilions on Coconut Point, located on the south side of Sebastian Inlet. The concert is free with regular park entry fees.
