ST LUKE’S HOSPICE - TREE OF LIGHTS CAMPAIGN 2014

Dear Friends of St Luke’s Hospice,

Thank you for your time in considering our appeal.

Our magnificent, 5-storey high, Norfolk Pine is lit up every night, over the festive season, in celebration of life and in honour of those we have loved. Please support our Tree of Lights Campaign this year by sponsoring lights. Your donation will enable us to continue offering our invaluable 24 hour / 7 days a week care service to the community of Cape Town at no cost.

We will also be able to purchase much needed medical equipment and supplies as well as help meet the needs of our patients and their families.

Our Mission – To provide palliative care for improved quality of life and to enable people to die with dignity.

Few things are more devastating than living with a terminal illness. What many forget, though, is that, by focusing on the positives we can help bring care, compassion and dignity to those who really need it.

At St Luke’s Hospice, we adopt this principle every day and have done so for the past 34 years. We believe our patients – and their families – deserve the best palliative care, love and support possible in their most difficult times.

On any given day, over 860 patients entrust their quality of life to St Luke’s Hospice, and this number is on the rise. We have 1 ward in Kenilworth, 7 Community hospices across the greater Cape Town area and a team of home-based carers who bring care, empathy and treatment to patients in their homes. We currently also run the Lizo Nobanda Drug Resistant TB Centre in Khayalitsha.

Our services are offered to our patients, and their families, at no cost to them (but if the patient has medical aid, and there are funds available, we will submit a claim to the medical aid).
