The Symposium aims to encourage research exchanges and to develop interregional project groups that specialize in “Polycultural Еducation development: theory and practices”. This tends to promote: a) joint research (cross cultural, comparative research etc.); b) advancement of education quality (development of Polycultural Educational at all educationlevels from pre-school secondary education tohigher education and vocational training); c) development of new social technologies (development of safe and cooperative Polycultural Educational environment in the societies and states).

Symposiumtopics:

  • History of Polycultural education: genesis, tendencies and prospective.
  • Contemporary methodology of Polycultural Educational approach (multi-paradigm approach, hermeneutics approach etc).
  • Risks of Polycultural Education practicesdesign: historic and genetic, comparative research.
  • Principles of person-centered Polycultural Educational environment.
  • Polycultural Education and computer-based educational environment.
  • Psychological basis of Polycultural Education in pre-school, secondary and higher education.
  • Pedagogies and tutoring in Polycultural Education as activities of multi-culturism
  • Effects of Polycultural Education: individual competitiveness, self-realization, tolerance or marginalization etc.; social stability, development or segregation, “folkloric”, “brain-drain” etc.
  • Developmental criteria of student Polycultural Competence.
  • Intercultural communications: educational theory and practices: speaking practices, multilingualism, and cooperative educational environment (from discourse of authority to the discourse of partnership and cooperation in education).
  • Competency-based approach and the ideas of Polycultural Education in the training of students, teachers, managers, activists of ethnic associations.
  • Polycultural program “Fundamentals of religious and secular ethics”: practices of program implementation in educational institutions of Russian Federation.
  • Ethno-cultural Education in multi-cultural regions of Russian Federation (Far East etc).
  • Education potentials in youth multi-ethnic associations.
  • Public and state partnership in Polycultural Educational management.

  • Off-line discussions and research result exchanges in the universities involved; development of project groups.

  • On-line presentations of project groups, discussions, development of interregional research groups;
  • Off-line intra-university project discussions and analysis of existing and potential resources; interregional project group discussions via Skype, email etc.

  • 10 days before the symposium opening: publication and distribution of

E-version of symposium proceedings (articles, analytical reports, expert evaluation) in Russian and in English (part 1);

  • 40 days after symposium closing: follow-up publication and distribution of symposium proceedings (additional articles, project group descriptions and presentations) (part 2).

  • 15th September 2012 – deadline for abstracts of articles or papers ( 500 words)
  • 30th September 2012 – you will get the confirmation of your participation.
  • 14th-16th November 2012 – participation in on/off-line discussion in 7 partner universities, (YouTube video will be available later)
  • 30th November - deadline for your article, analytical paper or project group description (1 and 2 parts of Symposium proceedings)
  • December 2012 – publication of Symposium proceedings ( in English and Russian)
  • 30th January 2013 - distribution the books

A complete version of Symposium Proceedings (both e-version and a paper copy) will be sent to individual participants, to the libraries of participant institutions and the leading libraries of Russia by request (payment on delivery).
