· Tournament Scorecards: As a reminder and courtesy to your tournament host, please keep an official scorecard to submit. Official scorecards must be legible and should have players’ first and last name or at least last name and initial on the card. Additionally, golfers should add total, handicap, net and adjusted score to the scorecard. Please be sure to sign (and attest) and date your official scorecards before submitting them to the host. The tournament host does not require information about putts or side pots. Below is a sample of how the official scorecard should look once it has been completed.
· 2010 Tournament Hosts: Please contact Keith Matthews at X26788 or if interested in hosting any of the OPEN tournaments.
· Tournament Sign Up Deadline Information: In signing up for tournaments, members are strongly encouraged to sign up within the first 2 weeks of the sign-up period. The reason for this is due to the tournament golf courses requiring full green fee payment 10 days prior to the tournament. The normal cycle time for SPGC to get a check request processed is 3-5 days which means the club must have the number of golfers 2 weeks before the tournament date so the check can be sent within the 10 day deadline. Therefore if you’re planning to play in a tournament, please don’t wait until it’s too late to sign up.
· SCGA News:
· Membership packets including the 2010 membership card, Directory of Golf and Fore Magazine will be mailed out the first part of February.
· Tournament scores from before the switch to the GHIN system only include the date of the round and the handicap differential. To display it now the score, course rating and Slope rating had to be artificially created to get the correct handicap differential. So if anybody sees a score listed under the two low tournament scores that they didn't shoot, remember that the handicap differential and the date are correct even if the score and ratings do not match what they shot that day.
· All members that have an email address on file with the SCGA should be receiving their eNewsletter on the 1st and 15th of the month with their new Handicap Index. Make sure you add as a safe sender. If you're not receiving your email please contact the SCGA handicap department or your handicap chairman, Kathy Broten ().
· SCGA Member Outings (formerly called Casual Golf Days) – These outings allow SCGA members to participate in organized non-competitive golf outings. Member Outings are open to all members (men and women) of all skill levels, who want to participate in no-pressure golf at a premier golf course. No Handicap Index is required. Bring a group of friends or join as a single and enjoy a fun filled day of golf. Some of the premier golf courses scheduled in the next few months are Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club on Mar. 15; Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta on May 14; PGA West Norman and Nicklaus courses on May 17; and La Quinta Resort Dunes and Mountain courses on May 18. You may register online and learn more about each program at www.scga.org.
