South Dakota History
Unit 7 Project

In Lesson 3, we learned about radio coming to South Dakota and compared past broadcasts to today’s. For your Unit 7 Project, you will write and record a “radio broadcast” explaining the eight people discussed in Unit 7. List information on each person that you would like to include in your broadcast. You may add music and/or sound effects if you like. Your broadcast should be at least 4 minutes long. (This means 30 seconds per person.)

Introduction- Introduce your radio show. Come up with a name and slogan. (Example: Ben and Patty in the Morning, Big Breakfast, Hot Morning Show, etc.) Explain what you will be talking about on your show today.

______

Now that you have written the show, now it’s time to record it. See Page 3

Now that you know what you will say, record it using your computer.

Find your program in All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder. In order for your voice to record well, talk into the microphone on your computer. The microphone is on the bottom right-hand side of your computer screen. It is next to the silver hinges and has a picture of a microphone. When you record you may want to put your computer in tablet mode so it is easier to speak into the microphone.

When you open Sound Recorder a box will appear with a red circle. Push the button with the red circle (record) when you are ready to start reading. Pay attention to the “Position” time. Remember your show needs to be at least 4 minutes. When you are finished recording, hit the button with the square for stop. To replay your show hit the triangle button (play).

If you’re using music or sound effects, have those items next to you and ready to use so you don’t have any “dead air”, (no sound) ,during your show.

Save your recording onto your computer. I will show you in class how to move the file into your shared file.
