Senior Information for Graduation

·  Graduation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 7:30pm at UNCW Trask Coliseum.

·  Graduating Seniors should report to their homeroom teacher in the hallway surrounding the gym by 6:45pm. BE ON TIME!

·  Topsail High School graduation will be before ours so you need to get there on time with all the traffic in and out of the area. Leave early from home!!

·  All guests sitting in the balcony will NOT need tickets. If you have a guest that will require handicapped seating, they will need a ticket. This information needs to be given to Mrs. Timmons immediately so that she can accommodate these guests. Guests will not be able to sit in the handicapped area without a ticket.

·  Practice will be at 9:00am on Thursday, June 9th in our gym. Bring your cap, gown and hood.

Appropriate dress for graduation:

Dress should be professional!! If you are not sure about the appropriateness of your clothing, check with Mrs. Neill in Career Development.

·  Males should wear dress pants, dress shoes, a collared button down dress shirt (not a golf or polo shirt), and a tie.

·  Females should wear dress shoes, a dress or skirt and blouse, or dress slacks.

·  Sneakers and flip-flops are not appropriate footwear.

·  Don’t forget your cap, hood and gown. (CHECK NOW to make sure you have all pieces. There are no extras.)

Expectations for behavior:

The Graduation ceremony should be an exciting time for you, but should also be a serious and dignified occasion. Therefore, we expect you to follow these guidelines:

·  There should be no cheering, yelling or shouting during the ceremony.

·  Applaud only when appropriate: at the end of speeches or during the presentation of diplomas. However, remember that everyone wants to hear his or her own name called.

·  There should be no decorations (signs, words, symbols, etc.) attached to your cap or gown. You will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony if your cap or gown is decorated.

·  Please be respectful of others and refrain from talking during the ceremony.

·  Turn your cell phone OFF!! (Suggestion: Leave it with your family.)

Expectations for behavior of guests:

Please share this information with your guests so that everyone will know what is expected of them:

·  Applaud only when appropriate: at the end of speeches or during the presentation of diplomas. However, remember that everyone wants to hear his or her senior’s name called.

·  Be respectful of others’ right to hear the ceremony by refraining from talking during the ceremony.

·  Crying babies or restless children should be escorted to the gym lobby.

·  A photographer will take pictures of graduates as they cross the stage. Pictures can be purchased for a minimal fee. There will not be a way to get closer to the stage. All pictures will need to be taken from your seat.

·  Food, drinks, and tobacco products are not permitted in the gym.

·  Turn cell phones OFF!

·  No balloons are allowed inside the gym because it impairs others’ ability to see the ceremony.

Graduation: June 10, 2016 at 7:30pm at UNCW Trask Coliseum

Seniors need to be there at 6:45pm in hallway

Practice: June 9, 2016 at 9:00am at HTHS gym

Seniors need to be in homeroom at 8:30am

All fees must be paid before practice at 9am on June 9th.
