The Northern Land Council is an independent statutory authority of the Commonwealth responsible for assisting Aboriginal peoples in the Top End of the Northern Territory to acquire and manage their traditional lands and waters in accordance with the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (ALRA), the Native Title Act 1993 (NTA) and other relevant legislation.

Senior Contracts Administrator

Location: Darwin NT

Position number: L20

Base salary range:SOGB $95,811 - $111,336 pa + entitlements

Term:3 year contract

The Senior Contracts Administrator is responsible, as directed by the Principal Legal Officer, for agreement execution and compliance and maintaining a database of all agreements.

The NLC’s statutory duties include conducting negotiations on behalf of Traditional Owners with third parties interested in carrying out activities on traditional lands and waters. Examples of activities include residential and commercial leasing, grazing, mustering, tourism and wildlife harvesting and mineral and petroleum exploration and production.

Applicants should possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a contracts administrator role handling multiple commercial contracts and stakeholders, with highly developed written, oral, numeracy and interpersonal skills.

Experience working with mineral and petroleum agreements, in a cross-cultural organisation, and relevant qualifications including in legal, business, accounting or project management will be highly regarded.
