SUMMARY

Works directly with the Transportation Director and ensures that transportation daily operations and long term objectives are being supported.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·  Represents Semcac Transportation and Semcac agency to promote excellent public relations and customer service.

·  Oversees and processes specifications for capital bus procurement and disposal.

·  Researches and develops opportunities for growth in technology, delivery of services and coordination with other transportation systems.

·  Authorizes and codes general purchases and maintenance/repair costs in accordance with budgets, operational needs and Agency policies/

·  Ensures that all bus driver requirements and trainings are current for CDL and other issues.

·  Responsible for addressing client/staff complaints and concerns.

·  Responsible for recruiting, training and supervising bus drivers as needed and oversee all required documentation is processed and on file.

·  Provides positive public relations and program awareness through regular outreach, speaking engagements, use of media opportunities and special events.

·  Oversees correction of operating deficiencies and reinforce positive compliance of established procedures. Report observations to the Transportation Director for follow-up action where needed.

·  Oversees billing procedures, statistical reports and other operational analysis.

·  Participates in the development of policies and procedures for program operation.

·  Oversees compliance of grant and program guidelines.

·  Monitors program efficiency, errors rate, trip coordination and impact of Policies and Procedures. Develops and implements changes and requirements under direction of the Transportation Director.

·  Assists Transportation Director with special projects, daily administration of operation activities.

·  Evaluates /coordinates transit routes

·  Maintains control of property and assets

·  Provides back-up for Compliance and Marketing Manager and Operations Manager – Volunteer Driver Program

·  Responsible for tracking and compliance for Hours of Service for all Public Transit drivers.

·  Other duties as assigned or required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Helps to oversee employees in the Transportation Service Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Position requires a two year degree in related field. Three to five years’ related experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The person in this position must be willing to engage in professional development efforts as available for the position and as requested by the Transportation Director. The employee in this position is accountable to the Transportation Director.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Semcac Transportation policies, procedures, performance standards, and applicable DOT regulations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Driver’s license or reliable transportation.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Solid working knowledge of computer-based software and applications with ability to provide statistical analysis of operations data. Need to have strong understanding of Database, Internet, Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
