Specific steps of Lesson Plan (3-5 sentences. Include lesson format, activities, and details to replicate):
In every class, students will participate in a classroom discussion to understand and model cafeteria rules. These rules will also be modeled by the teachers as they will sit with their class for lunch the first 2 weeks of school. In the classroom, examples and non-examples will be demonstrated, as well as opportunities to practice under teacher supervision. Anchor Charts will be created during these lessons and displayed in every classroom. A large bulletin board will be created in the cafeteria to display the rules at all times. The Specials area teachers will also teach a lesson during the first week of school to reinforce cafeteria rules and they will revisit the rules throughout the school year, as necessary.Format = classroom discussion, accountable talk

Activities
Homeroom Teachers: Students will create a large size anchor chart, as a class, that will be displayed in their classroom. They will model, role play, and demonstrate cafeteria rules as well.
Specials Teachers: The students engage in a classroom discussion to brainstorm cafeteria rules. The official rules will then be introduced. Students will create a circle map to demonstrate an understanding of what cafeteria rules are at Banyan Elementary School.
Lesson Plan Dates & Times (also document in classroom plans AND master calendar – minimum of 4 dates)
1. Initial teaching: Week of Aug 21- Aug. 25 Specials teachers teach rules lesson for the cafeteria and students will make posters to hang up in the cafeteria, describing cafeteria rules.
2. Students make their circle maps to describe proper behavior in the cafeteria in Special Area classes the week of August 28- Sept. 1
3. Week of Jan 9 -12, all homeroom teachers to revisit the lesson on the Cafeteria.
4. Week of April 30 - May 4, as classes rotate through all Specials classes the first 5 minutes of every class will be dedicated to reviewing the lesson on cafeteria rules.

In the classroom, examples and non-examples will be demonstrated, as well as opportunities to practice under teacher supervision. Anchor Charts will be created during these lessons and displayed in every classroom. Teachers will also create posters that will be attached to every classroom door. This way students will see the rules every time they are about to enter the hallway. The Specials area teachers will also teach a lesson during the first week of school to reinforce hallway rules and they will revisit the rules throughout the school year, as necessary.Format = classroom discussion, accountable talk
