Special Warning

Please note: This light must be kept plugged into the wall socket at all times, with the switch on the wall plug socket turned on. If it is not kept plugged into the socket, the unit will not charge so may not work in the event of a power cut.

General description

This emergency light plugs into a standard UK socket and provides up to four hours of emergency light during a power cut. In the event of a power cut, the handheld torch can be removed from the base charger to help you find your way around. When the torch is placed into the base charger, it also functions as an automatic nightlight.

Items supplied with the SafeTlight

1 x handheld torch

1 x base charger with UK plug

Orientation

Remove the torch from the base unit.

On the front of the torch is an oval shaped slide switch which has 3 raised ridges on it to help distinguish it. This is used to turn the torch light on and off.

On the left is a green LED which is the charging indicator.

On the back of the torch are a series of plastic fins that run down the length of the unit from half way down. These are the guide fins that help you to place the torch into the base charger so it’s in the correct position. It will only insert into place when these are aligned – to align, rotate the unit clockwise in the base charger until it stops rotating. This means you’ve come into contact with the first fin. Lift up and continue to rotate very slightly and you should feel the fins align – you can now drop the unit into place. The charging contacts are on the edges of the fins.

To the right of the on/off switch is a small square area which is the photocell sensor.

The base charger has a UK 3-pin plug on the back which can be inserted directly into a wall socket. On the top of the base unit is a circular hole which is where the torch is inserted. There is also a red LED on the left hand side of the base unit, which is the power indicator.

Using the product

Remove the SafeTlight from the clam shell pack by pulling apart the clips at top left and top right hand corners. Remove the plastic plug protector.

Plug the base charger into any AC electrical power point, the red power LED on the left hand side will be lit.

Insert the torch with the on/off switch facing forwards (lining up the guide fins on the back), into the base charger and move the switch upwards to the ‘on’ position; the green LED on the left hand side of the torch will be lit.

Please note: the torch drops into the base charger, no force is required.

When the on/off switch is in the ‘ON’ position:

·  the torch will be charging, ready for use

·  the night-light will automatically light up at dusk

·  the night-light will automatically switch off at dawn

·  in a power cut, the torch will light up on full beam for at least four hours

With the switch in the ‘off’ position:

·  the torch will be charging, ready for use

·  the night-light will not light up automatically

·  in a power cut the torch will not light up automatically

·  in a power cut you will need to switch on the torch manually

The torch can be removed from the base charger for use at any time and replaced into the base with the on/off switch facing forwards and the guide fins at the back; the torch drops into the base charger, no force is required.

There are no batteries or bulbs to replace.

Precautions

·  Do not look directly into the LED light

·  Do not attempt to open the torch or base charger

·  Not suitable to be plugged into an extension lead
