Sacramento Chapter of APWA has Scholarships for Community College Students
The Sacramento Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) has scholarships available for students interested in pursuing a career in a Public Works related field. Students interested in Engineering, Surveying, Construction Management, Math, Science, and all other majors associated with Public Works are encouraged to apply.
Awards of up to $500 will be presented based on qualified applications received from students at Butte College, Lake Tahoe Community College, Lassen Community College, Sierra College, Feather River College, American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, Sacramento City College, San Joaquin Delta College, Shasta College, College of the Siskiyous, Woodland Community College, and Yuba College.
The applications are screened for relevance of coursework to the field of Public Works, academic scholarship, student activities, evidence of work accomplishments, honors, etc. The top-ranked applicants are invited to a personal or telephone interview with the Chapter Scholarship Committee, if necessary. The final selection of scholarship recipients is made by the Committee after the interviews have been completed.
Scholarship Applications will be distributed via college email lists and are posted online at http://sacramento.apwa.net/. The submittal package consisting of an Application, a Personal Statement (500 words maximum), and current transcripts (or other acceptable record of college grades) should be completed and must be submitted electronically via email. The submittal package shall have a date stamp no later than April 8, 2016 and should be sent to the following email address:

The names of the applicants selected by the Committee are presented to the Chapter executive committee for ratification and the successful applicants will be invited to the APWA dinner on Thursday, May 19, 2016 to receive the scholarship award check. Scholarship recipients will be welcomed at the meeting as guests of the Chapter.
