WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE
“TBL” COMPREHENSIVE SERIES®
The Bottom Line Comprehensive Series® (TBL) concepts have been developed over 30 years to teach proven business principles to orthodontists around the world. Whether you are just out of school and need guidance setting up your practice or you are so busy that you are fighting “burnout”, TBL is THE best practice management course for you. You won’t be told what to do. Instead, you will be asked to outline your needs and desires. Over the course of the year, you will be given the tools to achieve your personal goals based on proven business principles.
The Bottom Line Comprehensive Series® has been “staged” into four sessions so as not to overwhelm the doctor/staff/spouses. Taking the big picture and breaking it down into bite-sized pieces allows each practice to apply TBL principles. Past attendees have consistently grown their practices 20% – 200% during the first year while simultaneously reducing their time at the chair by up to 60%. This goes straight to the “bottom line”! Learn how to maximize your return on investment, schedule to run on time, and create a worry free, fun environment. Hmmm…how much is it worth to have a great day…every day?

SOME RECENT TESTIMONIALS REGARDING
THE BOTTOM LINE COMPREHENSIVE SERIES®
Successful Strategies for Private Practice Orthodontists
Dr. Bryon Kozak – Kenosha, WI
Terry and Dee,
I sincerely appreciate your commitment you both have made to changing my life. As a recent graduate with big business dreams but little business know-how I have found the Bottom Line course to be full of enlightening information and material.
When opening my office in June of 2001, I thought "If I build it, they will come". And they did come; slowly. As time went by more patients came with some starting treatment and some not starting treatment. My continuous dedication to the office paid off as more and more patients began treatment. But things weren't what I thought they would be. I was working more hours with very little improved results. Headaches increased because of stress from managing the office, the staff and patients, while playtime decreased.
I attended the one-day Bottom Line Course which started to change me around and give me focus. Soon after I enrolled in the comprehensive course.
Now, after the third session and only six months after starting your course my systems are in place for increased growth. How I handle new patient phone calls, accounts receivables, new employee hires, exam/cons, patient flow, scheduling, and tracking has all been modeled from your course material. As much as you say patients seen in a day aren't the best measure of success, I went from seeing 2-3 patients a day a year ago to seeing 43 patients just today! Now, however, no headaches, no stress, and less work.
My wife used to complain because I spent too much time doing office "stuff". Now she's so excited from attending your course she can't wait until I do more of it. Except now, I'm actually doing less. Thanks for teaching me "Gung Ho!" and offering your material in learning to let employees lead. You've certainly created a course that is unlike any others. It's real, it's applicable, it's comprehensive, and most of all it changed the direction of my practice and subsequently my quality of life.
Thanks for all you've done. I can't wait until the next session.
My sincerest regards, Bryon Kozak
Dr. Tim Glupker – Holland, MI
I have been in practice 16 years and have had several of the top orthodontic consultants evaluate my practice, along with attending many conferences, workshops and courses, some very intensive. I think we all would like to realize our "dream" practice but with our many "life" commitments it at times seems overwhelming to address all the facets of practicing orthodontics.
Here is where The Bottomline course stands out because Terry is all about creating a life of balance. This course goes beyond just the goals of your practice, although you will get plenty of that. Terry will help create an avenue to establish balance in light of family, friends, charities, finances, etc. The Bottomline course will assist you in evaluating all aspects of your practice and put into place a practice plan to set and reach your goals.
A practicing orthodontist for 30+ years and an instructor at The University of Illinois, Terry at one time or another has utilized most of the orthodontic "gurus," as well as many top business consultants nationally. What does this mean for you? You get the "meat" of this information after Terry has evaluated, tested and synthesized it. You can spare yourself a lot of trial and error on what works and what doesn't because quite honestly Terry has done that for you. Terry's own cutting edge information fills several notebooks, which you have as a reference for years to come. This is a comprehensive course, but if you take the time and make the effort your practice and life will realize a significant return on investment.
Terry and Dee are great hosts along with their staff. They make it an enjoyable experience. You will also enjoy the comradery of fellow attendees and glean much insight from them. I highly recommend you "Just do it!"

Dr. Bill Beam – Oak Park, IL
Dear Terry and Dee,
We experienced a 35% jump from 2004 to 2006 (our Bottom Line Course wrapped up 11/04). A 35% jump for a practice our size in a time when most other practices are flat is no small feat. Our team was the “Secret” to our success. TBL provided the tools and enabled Rick and I to develop the vision to enable some huge changes. One-step exams, scheduling templates and timing, tracking, TTPs, peer-reviews, Terry supporting me in a consultation as I was trying to convince Rick to make a big technology investment – the list goes on and on. And the benefits are more than monetary. While you can say a schedule that enables you to run on time is great internal marketing, the reduced stress in the office is just as valuable.
I’d like to thank both of you for a life-changing experience!

Dr. Kirk Davies – Waukesha, WI
Dear Colleagues:
I have just completed The Bottom Line Comprehensive Course and am extremely satisfied with the knowledge I gained, the friendships that have developed, and the confidence I have in myself and the practice.
I was out of school for 2 1/2 years when I signed up for the course. What a perfect time to do so. I don't know your situation but mine was one of hard work, long hours, and steady but not spectacular growth. The steady and not spectacular growth was probably a good thing because my systems and facility would not have been able to handle it at the time. I was frustrated with staff, even though many were good hardworking people, they just didn't have the right leadership or know what I knew. I needed to share with them my vision, my idea of where we needed to go! Before that even I needed to write down what I wanted and where I thought I wanted to go. The Bottom Line Course has been the best tool I have seen, read about, or tried since going out into practice.
At the time I signed up even my wife thought the price was way too steep, especially since we were working hard just to climb out of debt. She and I both now agree that this course is the best value out there. Don't tell Terry, but the course is worth two to three times what he charges for it. Like anything else, you will get out of it what you put into it. Terry will teach you things and connect you with the right people which will save you well over twice the cost of the course, and that is in the first year, imagine what that will be over the course of a career. The biggest advantage has been my greater ability to train and delegate tasks to those hard working good employees that I have and let them lead. I now leave the office at the end of the day and don't come back to finish up things later that night. I spend almost no time at the office on weekends, and my wife and young son love it. Thru better scheduling techniques I am able to do a 3 or 3 1/2 day work week and still increase my practice 25% this year. I guess that also says how inefficient I was before.
The other best thing about the course is the friendships you will make with some great people. In my case being the youngest of the group, I picked up tips from some very successful people. These tips usually started out with the phrase...."When I was at your stage in practice I should have done....." What a great thing, to learn from very successful practices what works and most importantly when to apply those techniques.
Just because you take the course everything will not come up roses. There are staffing issues, facility issues, growth issues which all can be distressing. With the knowledge you have and the contacts you have made, you will much more easily handle these fires and put them out. If your concern is that the course costs too much I will tell you it is my opinion that that is false economy, it will cost you more if you don't take the course. If you tell me you don't have the time, that tells me you need to take the course so you do have the time for the important things in life.
This course will change your life (not just your office) for the better!
Sincerely, Kirk Davies
Dr. Robert L. Waugh – Athens, GA
Dear Terry,
Having returned form the fourth and final meeting of the Bottomline Comprehensive Course, I wanted to formally thank you for providing an enriching and thoughtful program. It was a special year for my practice and your course will be remembered as a milestone in the "good" choices that I have made during my professional career.
It is refreshing to have a course with a knowledgeable speaker who takes such a genuine interest in the specific details of my practice. Rather than a cookbook consulting approach, you listened to my concerns and questions and tailored an individualized plan for me. Moreover, you were there to hold me accountable at subsequent meetings and were available for those inquiries between sessions. I didn’t expect to be developing a mentor relationship, but I am now convinced that "mentoring" is exactly what took place.
Your openness to sharing information and advice with our group punctuates your always generous attitude and approachable charm. Thank you again for developing the courses with this comfortable environment for discussion in mind.
Regarding the impact of the course on my practice, I can only say it must have been divine guidance that steered me your way. Merging my office with another orthodontist in Athens this year was the last thing on my mind when I signed up. Combining the two practices then required a comprehensive review of all practice systems and you provided the perfect structure for this task. My practice valuation soared just in time thanks to your resources. I cannot put a value on the long-term impact of my involvement with the Comprehensive Course.
Once again, thank you for mentoring me in the business principles of Orthodontics. I will always appreciate your hospitality at the four sessions of the Bottom Line Comprehensive Course and will treasure the friendship we share. Let me know if I can ever help you in any way.
