A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Bro. Egbert Dyer, P.C.R.

By

Sis. Dianne Barker, P.C.R.

This is a day we had hoped and earnestly prayed would never come. Today we deeply grieve for the loss of our dear brother, a faithful, valiant and dedicated brother. Brother Dyerwas a very loving and caring man, a man who had a strong determination to live. He was steadfast in his faith, dedicated to his family, church, and organization and we today, bow our heads in solemn resignation and say “Not my will, but thine be done O Lord!”

Since joining the Ancient Order of Foresters on September 28, 1994, Brother Dyer was a strong link in our chain. Because of his love and dedication he was elected in the year 1996 asour Treasurer. An office he held until making his transition on July 4 2012.

On July 30, 2004 he was bestowed the esteem Past Chief Ranger’s Lecture.

As our Treasurer, Brother Dyerdemanded and stressed the urgency of going to the bank in a timely manner. He protected our funds like it was gold at FortKnox. Although, he was fighting a raging battle of his own he still demanded and commandedprotecting and taking our funds to the bank. He was the driving force behind our annual spring bus ride to Atlantic City, and our annual summer picnic making sure he would go to the park site early that morning securing a place for us. Sadly, today, our chain has been broken by the strongtentacles of death.

Bro. Dyer has left an indelible mark —a mark that has become historic to us. On September 11,he made his entrance into this world. A historic day that is now known as 911, and on July 4, 2012, independence day he was granted hisindependence withhis wings to soar.

Brother Dyer’s fight has become our fight and his battle our battle. In hissteadfast determination in the biggest challengeof his life it gave him the courage as it does us the serenity to face our own mortality. He was a man that can be taken at his word. He said what he meant and meant what he said.

The Ancient Order of Forestry has lost a genuine and sincere brother. As we pay tribute to the life of our dear brotherour hearts are full as we gather together to say goodbye to a valiant and dedicated man and brother. .

To the family of the late Bro. Dyerwe extend our heartfelt sympathy to you. We know the deep loss and sorrow you are experiencing because we too share in that common bond of loss. So today,as we bid him farewell we give thanks to God in knowing this good man and brother and for sharing so much of his life with us.

“He is home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
in this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
He is now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.”
