Background

Catholic Relief Services is an international non-governmental organization that was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to serve World War II survivors in Europe. Since then, CRS has expanded in size to reach more than 85 million people in 101 countries on five continents. Although CRS’ mission is rooted in the Catholic faith, CRS’ operations serve people based solely on need, regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity.

CRS/Egypt country program began in 1956 at the invitation of the Egyptian president Nasser by providing relief assistance to the victims of the Suez War. Over the following few decades, CRS/Egypt moved from large-scale food relief to long-term poverty alleviation and development programs. Current programs in place range throughout providing livelihood opportunities, peace building, and basic & higher education programs.

Purpose

The objective of this opportunity is to provide in person support to Partnership Team for 150 days (six months) specifically through logistical arrangements and to assist in translation written and verbal.

The[LH1] partnership program aims to provide financial supportas well as capacity building with Coptic Catholic Dioces in Ismalia, Assiut, BenniSueif, Luxor as well as Caritas Egypt.

Therefore, the successful candidate will carry-out thebelow responsibilities:

  • Be sure to care of the logistics Cairo events logistics in terms of following up on hotel bookings, venue rental, meals, transportation, etc…
  • Ensure that all payments have been done and that correct supporting documents are provided
  • Verbal translation from Arabic to English and vice versa during trainings, workshops and meetings
  • Written translation of reports and from Arabic to English
  • Ensure effective updated filing system for the accelerating learning program students’ files.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by Project Officer for Partnership.

RequiredQualifications

  • Fluency in English and Arabic; spoken and written.
  • Basic use of Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Personal ability to deal, in a humble and dignified way, with partner staff members and clergy.
  • Is flexible to travel to various villages in Upper Egypt (at least 40% of the work is outside of Cairo)
  • Able to prioritize work, multi-task and control processes.
  • Ability to work diligently and independently under minimum supervision.
  • Maturity and discretion.
  • Good reporting skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in tense situations.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.

Deliverables

  • To provide in person support to Partnership Team in Garden City for 150 days.
  • Both parties are entitled to terminate the agreement at any time by their own discretion providing notice period 15 days in advance.
