PTO Meeting Notes – November 18, 2014

  • President Kim Plebani welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked that they sign the attendance sheet and list their child’s teacher. The classroom with the most attendance this meeting was Mrs. Curtin and they will be awarded with a special snack by the PTO.
  • An agenda was handed out to everyone – topics discussed:

  • Kindergarten Graduation - will be on June 9th
  • Trenton Thunder Game-Both 4th and 5th graders will be going on May 20th. 5th graders will be doing their snack shop like they do every year and the 4th grade fund raiser is being decided at this time.
  • 4th Grade Safety – Ms. Hess is working with Ms. Burke on a Safety schedule for the 4th graders. This is scheduled to roll out in January.
  • Ms. Holland, Poquessing Middle School Principal is going to schedule a visit to come speak with the Lower South 4th grade students to answer any questions they may have regarding them moving over to the middle school. Date is to be determined.
  • Box Tops – Great turn-out so far. Keep them coming in! Please be sure you are not sending in expired Box Tops as we will not be paid for those. A $.50 gift certificate is given to each student that brings in a full page of 25 Box Tops. Sheets are periodically sent home or you can find them on the website. Check should be coming in shortly.
  • School Store – the next school store is November 21st. They are held every other Friday and the Box Top gift certificates are handed out the week of the school store. There will only be one school store date in December on December 5th.
  • Market Day – Our next Market Day Pick up is Monday, November 24thfrom 4-5 in the school gym. In October, we earned $119.85. This was our pie sale month and we receive additional bonus funding. Our order cutoff for December is December 30th and the pick-up will be January 5th, 2015.
  • American Education Week – this week parents are invited to come visit your child’s classroom between 9:30-11:30:
  • November 19 - last names starting with A-L
  • November 20 - last names starting with M-Z
  • Picture re-takes will be done on Friday, November 21st.
  • Apparel forms – new Spirit Wear forms are available on the website
  • Holiday Shop – will be held December 9th to 11th. There is a volunteer sign-up sheet if you are available to help out during the sale or you can email the PTO mailbox. A flyer will be going home next week with the classroom schedule for your reference.
  • Learning Express –a flyer is going out soon regarding a fundraiser for Learning Express. It is being held the week of December 1st-7th. You will receive a 10% discount and Lower South will receive 10% of the total sales. Must present flyer.
  • Lower Southampton Elementary Car magnets – a flyer will be going out to order our new car magnets. The cost is $5.00 each.
  • Chik-Fil-A Night – December 2nd from 5:00-8:00–Come out to see who will win the milkshake drinking contest between Mr. Nesbitt and Mr. P. The contest is at 6:00. We will receive 10% of the sales that night – please mention you are there from Lower South!

  • Putting on the Hitstentative dates March 20th
  • Movie Day – December 23rd – The staff is planning on having the movie day again this year at the Neshaminy AMC Movie Theater. It will be the last day before winter break. They are planning on grades K-2 for Annie and grades 3-5 for Night at the Museum. A flyer detailing this event will be coming home in December.
  • Recess – there was no outside recess today because it was too cold. Please remember to dress your children warmly on cold days. We will try and get them out as long as it is not too cold.
  • At the end of the meeting, Kim Plebani and Mrs. Burkholder thanked everyone for coming. Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 13that 7:00 in the school library.
