Roberta asked members if they, as parents, had been able to complete the Report Card Survey sent out by the province. Some members had been successful, others unsuccessful in being able to upload their responses.

Principal’s Report

Gym- Flooring renovations to take place summer 2014. Vessey Seeds Campaign raised $3400 toward gym painting and floor covering. Half of the new sound system has been purchased at a cost of $1500. TarpRight Flooring is a possibility for protective covering. Will now get a second quote re floor covering to verify quality and price. Salisbury District Recreation Council had initially been the group contacted to paint the gym walls. Does the reciprocal agreement with SDRC still exist? Now with changes to their organization, we will explore Day of Caring as possible group who could paint.

French Immersion Entry Point Update- A very small turnout of parents to the announcement of the changes being made to the FI Entry point as of September 2014. Parents, it seems, are very accepting of this change being made.

School Safety Unloading/Drop Off- A second meeting was held on March 17th and a third meeting is planned for April 28th. A letter now needs to be sent to Aubrey Kirkpatrick, AESD, to MLA Sherry Wilson and Premier Alward from the PSSC. Stephanie is to draft a letter and circulate it to PSSC members, to be sent to those mentioned above after the April 28th meeting. Jason Coyle, Works Dept, Municipality of Salisbury has drafted two preliminary suggestions. This committee is looking for an affordable engineering solution to appraise us of what can be done, and at what cost. Currently, a new sign has been purchased to encourage automobiles to pull up to a safe stopping point outside the SES playground gates when dropping off their child in the morning.

DriveOne4Your School- fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 31st, 9am -1pm at SES. Taylor Ford will provide vehicles for test drives. SES will organize a schedule of drivers. Each test drive, followed by proper completion of paperwork will result in $20 of fundraising. Promotion is up to SES and it was suggested to the PSSC that they use their Social Media connections to promote this event; Facebook, Newschaser and Salsibury Happenings, for examples.

Parent-Teacher Interviews- General feedback was given on the most recent Parent Teacher interviews. Some comments included teachers being on time, behind schedule, report card comments, portfolio vs traditional teacher-parent interviews.

Staffing 2014-2015 - The projected numbers for staffing were highlighted, based on the numbers of students currently enrolled. There will be no foreseeable change to the numbers of staff required, but some grade level changes may be necessary.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:35. Motion to adjourn was made by Alyssa and seconded by Paula.
