Welcome to Café Essence

During the three sessions of the project you will learn technical elements of cooking. You will also learn how to create recipes at home with a limited number of ingredients.

  • The 1st session: Thursday, August 24thfrom 9.30-11.00
  • The 2nd session: Thursday, August 31stfrom 1.30-3.00
  • The 3rd session: Thursday, September 7thfrom 9.30-11.00

Specimen Hill Primary School

In the threesessions at Café Essence this is what you will do:

  • Cook three different varieties of healthy muffins from scratch. You will use healthy and organic ingredients.
  • Cook risotto and pasta. You will learn how to create sauces from left over ingredients that you may find in your fridge.
  • Make easy French chocolate tart. You will be involved in both the base making and the fillings.

Occupational health & safety is important as well as your comfort.

So please:

  • Wear your uniform with full covered in shoes (no toes or top of foot to be exposed)
  • Bring and wear a name tag – your first name only
  • Bring a pen and your Project Book
  • Make sure you listen to all instructions and follow directions
  • Bring a drink to have at the end of sessions

S4ession1

Preparation:

Students will come with a willingness to learn, a belly ready to eat yummy food and a smile to enjoy.

What will happen:

Students will cook different varieties of healthy and organic muffins.

What we will learn:

What ingredients and technical elements are required to create healthy organic muffins.

Time to eat what you have cooked and reflect on what you have seen/done.

At least 3 things I discovered during the session:

S4ession 2

Preparation:

Empty lunch box to take home lunch in….

What will happen:

Students will cook risotto and pasta.

What we will learn:

How to create sauces from limited ingredients, including those they may be left overs in the fridge.

Time to eat what you have cooked and reflect on what you have seen/done.

At least 3 things I discovered during the session:

S4ession 3

Preparation:

Tell your family they are in for a treat when you get home tonight….

What will happen:

Students will be involved with the making of a French chocolate tart.

What we will learn:

Students will create the base for the tart, while also following a recipe to make the fillings.

Time to eat what you have cooked and reflect on what you have seen/done.
