Procedure for Chief Timers:

When you have checked timing assignments and have been assigned the chief timer position your responsibilities are as follows:

Before the Meet:

Have a sign-in sheet with you so that all RBY timers can check-in and confirm their assignment at the beginning of the session.

  1. Print out the check-in list from the team website (www.aquarockets.com). The timing assignment list can be found by clicking on the event. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and under Forms / Documents, click on the timing assignment link.
  2. If the host club is not supplying stopwatches, you will need to bring RBY watches. Whether you will need to bring watches will be indicated on the top of the timing assignment sheet in red. Our watches are stored in a plastic container in the long metal cabinet in the viewing area by the lifeguard office.
  3. Sign-out a set of stopwatches from Jack on Friday before this meet and bring them to the session you are working

At the Meet:

  1. When warm-ups begin, check in all timers. You will need to find a replacement for anyone that has not checked in
  2. Make sure all timers are aware of the time and destination for the timers meeting. This information is usually announced during warm-ups and may appear on the scoreboard. The chief timer is also expected to attend the timers meeting, so you are able to answer any questions that may arise.
  3. Write down all the names of the RBY officials that are working the meet.
  4. If there are two pools running concurrently, the chief timer for each session may be responsible for the timers and officials assigned to both pools. Please check timing assignments.
  5. Stay until RBY timing assignments are over, in order to collect all stopwatches.
  6. If you sign up to be the Chief Timer at a Tri-Meet, you are expected to be a timer for that meet.

After the Meet:

  1. Return stopwatches to Jack’s office no later than Tuesday of the following week.
  2. Put timing assignments sheet in the Nejame family folder.
