MINUTES – Patient Participation Group (PPG) Meeting

Welcome, housekeeping and introductions
GP Registrar
Dr Philip Wall
Dr Wall has worked at Priory Road for almost a year, will finish final 3rd year of training in August 2018, he will then be qualified as a GP. He trained at Guy’s, Kings, St Thomas and Bristol Royal Infirmary. Dr Wall has settled in Swindon with his wife and 2 children and would like to work as a GP in the Swindon area.
Patient Questionnaire
- Last 2 sessions conducted on 17 January and 15 February – results to be discussed and distributed
- Agree members to conduct next session – possibly next 2
- Wed 11 April – 3pm to 5pm – Maureen & Stella
- Fri 11 May – 10am to 12pm – Ian & Sylvia

Fundraising
- Funds stand at £413.42
- Suggestion of TV for waiting room or baby weighing scales – Discuss
- All members agreed that they would prefer the practice to spend the money on clinical equipment that would benefit the patients so have requested that the funds are kept for the time being
Summer Raffle
Maureen will be arranging the raffle – all donations to be brought to the surgery before the end of March – suggestions: beach, picnic hamper, BBQ etc
- To sell tickets from Tue 8 May – draw to be held Wed 15 July
Home Visiting
Policy for patients requesting home visit:
Patient or representative to call practice – before 10.30 am if possible
Reception to take details including reason for visit and enter onto clinical system
GPs will divide visits between them and will make decision on individual requests whether a visit, telephone consultation, script issue or patient attending the practice is appropriate and act accordingly
AOB
CQC – introduction of potential questions at next meeting, possibility of inviting inspector to future meeting
WHP Press release – introduce Mark Hopkins – Project Manager – next meeting
Shella gave a brief explanation of the creation of the Wyvern Health Partnership – all agreed to invite Mark Hopkins to next meeting
PPG Annual report – website – not an enhanced service – replace with PPG minutes–agreed
Notice in Evening Advertiser – GWH requesting return of Zimmer frames, walking sticks and crutches to main reception
Notice to be put on board in Waiting Room
Ian & Maureen volunteered to transport any equipment to GWH if patients were unable to themselves – to store in Multi Use Room
Rosemarie had attended a meeting with CCG – RNIB
- Eye tests in schools – children only have eyes tested once at Reception age
- 4,000 people are waiting for appointments at the eye clinic as there is a shortage of ophthalmologists in the UK
- Request to Swindon Borough Council to give the exterior of the Swindon Blind Association building on Victoria Road a “facelift”. Work has not started yet – interior requires work too
- If patients require larger print appointment slips reception will issue on request
