SECTION 13125 – PREFABRICATED GUARD BOOTHS

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1RELATED DOCUMENTS

Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.

1.2SUMMARY

  1. This Section includes factory assemble guard booths for outdoor applications.

1.3SUBMITTALS

  1. Product Data: Include construction details, material descriptions, and finishes.
  2. Shop Drawings: Illustrate fabrication and assembly, as well as connection to other construction and identification of components required for installation but not furnished by the booth manufacturer.
  3. Include plans, elevations, sections, details, and attachments to other work.
  4. Show locations of electrical receptacles and light fixtures.
  5. Indicate compliance with applicable design loads, and other applicable code requirements.
  6. Samples for Selection: For elements exposed to view having a factory-applied color finish.
  7. Operation and Maintenance Data: For manufacturer included equipment in prefabricated guard booths to include in operation, and maintenance manuals.

1.4QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. Electrical devices factory installed within the prefabricated building shall be UL listed. Factory installed wiring system shall bear UL Classification label certifying compliance with the current NFPA’s National Electrical Code.

1.5COORDINATION

  1. Coordinate installation of anchorages. Furnish setting drawings, templates, and directions for installing anchorages, including sleeves, concrete inserts, anchor bolts, and items with integral anchors, that are to be embedded in concrete. Deliver such items to Project site in time for installation.

1.6WARRANTY

  1. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:
  2. Faulty operation of heating element, controls, and safeties.
  3. Deterioration of metals, metal finishes, and other materials beyond normal use.
  4. Warranty Periods:
  5. Module and components not otherwise specified shall be for 2 years from date of delivery.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1MANUFACTURERS

  1. Basis-of-Design Product: The design is based on Porta-King, Durasteel modular building. Subject to compliance with requirements, provide either products by these manufacturers or a comparable product acceptable to the Architect/Engineer:
  2. Par-Kut International.
  3. Porta-Fab Corporation.
  4. Structure: Prefabricated steel building shall be single unit welded steel construction with galvannealed flat steel panels and tubing on the exterior and galvannealed steel interior panels. Building to be shipped completely assembled. Welded joints ground smooth. Aluminum or fiberglass construction not acceptable.
  5. Base and floor: Base height shall be 4 inches for outside use. Floor shall be manufacturer’s standard assembly and secured to the building. Finish with vinyl composition tile in color and pattern selected by the Owner.
  6. Doors shall be swing type, fully weather-stripped. Include manufacturer’s standard lock, glazing and hardware. Keying shall be as directed by the Owner.
  7. Windows: Framing shall be thermally broken construction and include glazing and all hardware as required. Provide sliding windows as required for ventilation and/or transaction purposes. Include insect screens in ventilation windows.
  8. Glazing: Windows and doors shall contain tinted tempered safety glass, 1/8 inch minimum thickness. Windows shall be insulated units.
  9. Tint Color: Solar gray as verified by the Owner.
  10. Finish: All steel surfaces shall be painted with rust inhibitive epoxy primer. Exposed interior and exterior steel surfaces shall be painted with one finish coat of industrial acrylic. Paint color shall be as selected by Owner from manufacturer's standards
  11. Canopy: Galvannealed steel and overhang beyond the walls as standard with the manufacturer. Fascia height shall be approximately 6 inches.
  12. Roof: Surface shall be galvannealed standing seam sloped roof (1 ft in 4 ft) pitch steel sheet. Roof seams shall be continuously welded, caulked and weatherproofed. Low slope roof shall drain to downspout(s).
  13. Insulation: Walls shall be insulated with 2 inch rigid fiberglass board, R=10. Roof structure fully insulated, R=17.4.
  14. Work Counters: Two heavy gages painted steel counters, one at each end; one across width of the booth; one across approximately half of the booth. Counters shall be welded in place. Include one electrical cord access hole install in each counter above receptacle.
  15. Plumbing Fixtures: Comply with applicable standards below and other requirements specified.
  16. Enameled, Cast-Iron Fixtures: ASMEA112.19.1M.
  17. Porcelain-Enameled Fixtures: ASMEA112.19.4M.
  18. Vitreous-China Fixtures: ASMEA112.19.2M.
  19. Water-Closet, Flush Valve, Tank Trim: ASMEA112.19.5.
  20. Lavatory/Sink Faucet Standards: Comply with ASMEA112.18.1M and other requirements specified for lavatory, sink, and similar-type-fixture faucet fittings. Include hot- and cold-water indicators; 2.0-gpm maximum flow rate; and polished, chrome-plated finish; except where otherwise indicated. Coordinate faucet inlets with supplies and fixture holes and outlet with spout and fixture receptor.
  21. Faucet Hose: ASTMD3901.
  22. Hose-Connection Vacuum Breakers: ASSE1011.
  23. Hose-Coupling Threads: ASMEB1.20.7.
  24. Integral, Atmospheric Vacuum Breakers: ASSE1001.
  25. Pipe Threads: ASMEB1.20.1.
  26. Mirror Unit:
  27. Basis-of-Design Product: Bobrick B-165, Bradley780, or GAMCO C-16 Series.
  28. Frame: Stainless-steel channel.
  29. Heater: Baseboard type including integral thermostat. Minimum heater size shall be 208/240V unit.
  30. VAC: Wall or above-ceiling mounted unit to provide air circulation and cooling.
  31. Roof Mounted Exhaust Fans:
  32. Project Altitude: Base air ratings on actual site elevations.
  33. Operating Limits: Classify according to AMCA99.
  34. Electrical: Unit shall be delivered complete with all wiring required for two-lamp shielded fluorescent light with lamps and wall switches, six 110V duplex outlet, heater, a 208/120V three –phase, 100A minimum 12-circuit load center with branch circuit breakers. All branch circuit wiring, copper No. 12 minimum, enclosed in EMT. All fittings, wiring devices and fixtures UL listed. Ready for site connection. Four-wire 208/120V three-phase service to panel provide by others.
  35. Lighting level shall be 30 to 40 foot candles at night time illumination.
  36. Provide exterior flood lights with photocell activation and one interior wall switch.

2.2FINISHES

  1. Comply with NAAMM's "Metal Finishes Manual for Architectural and Metal Products" for recommendations for applying and designating finishes.
  2. Protect mechanical finishes on exposed surfaces from damage during shipping and installation.
  3. Steel Sheet Finishes: Booth manufacturer's standard two-coat, baked-enamel finish consisting of prime coat and thermosetting topcoat.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1EXAMINATION

  1. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, for compliance with manufacturer’s installation tolerances.
  2. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2INSTALLATION

  1. Install prefabricated guard booths complete with installation materials required for an operational unit.
  2. Set prefabricated guard booths accurately in position; level, and plumb. Anchor with stainless steel or galvanized steel fasteners.
