Nadeau’s News

March/April 2017

Welcome Spring…

March is here and Spring will be soon and hopefully some work weather!

Please read on so you don’t miss anything…

Mud Season:

Our playgrounds, along with the rest of the state, get very muddy in the Spring and we love to play in the mud! We do not keep children out of the mud and do not keep them inside, as outdoor play is an essential part of our curriculum. Please be sure your child has appropriate clothes to play outside in - everything that goes outside will get really wet and dirty!

Easter Celebration:

We will be having our annual Easter egg hunt and celebration on Friday, April 14. Check with your child’s classroom for specific times, but it’s lots of fun to watch!

7th Annual Art Show:

Thank you to all the families that were able to come to our art show. It was great to see everyone there and we hope you all enjoyed it!

Hand washing reminder…

Just a friendly reminder to please be sure to wash your hands and your child’s hands upon entering the center. This is a state regulation and it helps to cut down on the spread of germs.

Scholastic Book Club:

There are two scholastic displays: one in the front hallway and one in the preschool entryway. You can find all the scholastic forms there and orders should be turned in with payment by the 15th of each month. Checks are made out to Scholastic Book Clubs. Scholastic runs from September-May.

Shoes & Slippers:

It is a state regulation that children are wearing something on their feet at all times, so we will need two separate sets of shoes - one for inside and one for outside. Also, please remember to take all shoes off at the front door as the ground gets messier with the weather/season changes.

Outdoor/extra clothing:

Please be sure your child has season and size appropriate extra clothing available at all times, as we cannot borrow clothes from other children. We cannot borrow and will call during the day for you to bring clothes if your child has no extra here.

Labeling:

Please remember to label everything that you bring into the center, so we can ensure items go home with the proper families. We have lots of children with the same boots, hats, mittens and don’t want any to go missing.

Week of the Young Child:

April 24th-28th is the Week of the Young Child…a time to honor young children and recognize teachers and all those who make a difference in young children’s lives. We will have lots of special activities planned throughout the week and will put more information out as the dates get closer.

Weather Updates/Snow Days:

Not something we like to think about, but a reality of where we live is the possibility of a closing due to weather. If there is a delay/closure we will post it on the Vermont Broadcasters System. It will show on all the local news stations and radio. It will also be posted on the Vermont Broadcasters Association website. The decision will be made by 6am and will be posted as soon as it is made. There may be days that we close early, due to a pending storm or the arrival of a storm, but will give families at least 2 hours notice. We do not follow school closings.

Parent-Teacher Conferences:

We will be holding parent-teacher conferences the last two weeks in April and will put out sign up sheets in advance. If you don’t have time for a full conference, you will receive a copy of the family conference form and can come to your teacher with any questions/concerns.

Staff birthdays:

Carolyn - April 6th

Makenna - April 15th

Briana - April 24th

We will be closed Friday, March 17th for an inservice day.
