Pilot Club of Chesapeake Newsletter
September 2010
Hello, ladies.
WOW!! The year is flying by as our children head back to school and plans for fall activities and celebrations are uppermost in our minds.
Our AUGUST meeting was excellent as we enjoyed a wonderful array of salads and light fruity desserts. We then discussed in detail our plans for Share Pilot to be held in September and the craft fair in October.
MaryAnn and Jean also distributed the tickets for the gas card raffle. Tickets will sell 3 for $5.00, with proceeds utilized to purchase a TV for the residents at Lav’m center. We purchased a WII for them last year with gas card raffle proceeds. Stop by the bank to pick up your tickets.
One of our first projects of the new Pilot year was to collect school supplies for the needy children at Rena B. Wright Elementary. Your donations are greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Faye for delivering those along with the 100 bookbags we’d ordered.
In preparation for Share Pilot, our annual invitation to prospective members will be mailed out soon. Please consider whom you’d like to bring and submit names and addresses to Terri ASAP. This dynamic session will be held Mon Sept. 20.
District Fall Council is approaching: Sept 24-25 in Danville. Early bird registration is good thru Sept. 10. If you’d like to join me for this exciting weekend, please contact me for further information.
Mark your calendar for our service opportunity at Hope Haven’s BBQ fund-raiser to be held Sat. Oct 2. We serve typically from noon -2pm. A sign-up sheet will be distributed at our next meeting.
Our 3rd annual craft fair is coming Sat Oct. 9 at Prince of Peace Church on Cedar Rd. Advertisements have been posted online and in the newspaper for our crafters. MaryAnn and Jean are coordinating the kitchen and need volunteers to make soup, chili and/or baked goods. Final details will be addressed at our Sept meeting.
Chesapeake Arboretum’s annual fall festival is Sat. Oct. 23. We’ll be conducting our scarecrow booth just as we did last year. To best facilitate this, we’ll need 6 members to help the kids assemble their scarecrows. Please call or email Jan or me to convey your availability. Arrive by 10:30am . The event runs noon – 3pm. This is an excellent way for us to get the word out about what we do.
NEXT MEETING: Mon Sept. 20 6:30pm Monarch Bank
Please bring a dish to share. Please make every effort to come.
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND ON Sept 20 , PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
