I am a highly motivated and experienced LTA professional licenced tennis coach with the highest recognized LTA coaching qualification. I am a member of the BTCA and have proven coaching and leadership skills at all levels of tennis coaching from beginner through to county standard. Described as versatile and adaptable I demonstrate a high level of professionalism supported by excellent interpersonal skills.

·  Coaching tennis at all levels to a wide variety of client groups including performance players eg Jason Barnett, Anna Marie MacGarthland, Steven Milne, Katie Christianson, Jonathan Lints (Scottish performance players), Michael Walker, Nick Jones, Karen and Andrew Fisher (North Wales performance players).

TENNIS ACHIEVEMENTS

·  Played senior county tennis for North Wales from age 15, including becoming team captain and gaining promotion to Group 2 in 1987, (from 1975 to 1994 inclusive, and in 2000 and again in 20

·  Played in British Over 35’s County Week for North Wales from 1995 to 2016

·  Represented Wales as Junior and Veteran player.

·  Coached at and played for Cults LTC (Aberdeen) in Scottish Cup and British League. Scottish Cup champions in 1996. Won ratings tournament in Aberdeen 1999 (doubles with Stewart Reid).

CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS

·  Qualified as an LTA professional tennis coach, now licenced to level 5( only level 5 in North wales )

·  North Wales County Cup Captain for under 14 and under 18 Boys.

·  Became fluent German speaker within short time of arriving at Ludenscheid. Proven ability to coach using a foreign language.

·  Devised and delivered tailored courses for a variety of client groups which have always received a very high satisfaction rating eg British junior county teams, NE Scotland District teams, Kuwaiti and UAE Davis Cup players, women’s day time courses, courses for people with disabilities.

·  Managed a sports complex at a large private members club in Guernsey.

·  Club coach at a number of North Wales tennis clubs prior to working abroad eg Prestatyn and Bangor.

CAREER HISTORY
Development/ Performance Coach Conwy County Council 2003 to date

Responsible for all tennis coaching undertaken at the James Alexander Barr Tennis Centre in Colwyn Bay. This includes wheelchair tennis, special needs groups, mini tennis, school groups, adult groups of all abilities and junior performance players.

Head Coach Rhos-on-Sea LTC 2003 to 2014

Responsible for adult and junior coaching at all levels, team training and organizing club nights.

Head Coach Esporta Health and Racquets Club 1999 – 2003

Organising and delivering tennis coaching at a newly opened private members’ club in Bearsden, Glasgow. Responsible for running adult club nights from beginner to advanced level. Junior coaching from mini tennis red to sub county players.

Head Coach Guernsey Tennis Indoor Centre 1998 - 1999

Organising and delivering tennis coaching at a private members’ club and day to day running of tennis center. Channel Islands LTA junior county teams’ coach, including responsibility for accompanying junior teams to tournaments.

Head Coach Westburn ITI Aberdeen 1995 – 1998

Team working with other coaches providing a variety of coaching activities at a jointly funded ITI. I ran courses which ranged from beginners to advanced players for children and adults, men and women, and people with learning disabilities. I was also a Scottish LTA District Coach for NE Scotland.

Senior Coach The British Club, Abu Dhabi 1987 – 1994

I headed a sports management team at this club of over 2000 members. This involved oversight of tennis and squash courts, a gym and a swimming pool. I drew up personnel rotas and advised the club’s senior management on all sports matters. I also had personal responsibility for tennis coaching and organising tournaments.

Head Tennis Coach Tennis Hallen Ludenscheid, W Germany 1982 - 1987

At this large West German tennis centre I coached all ages and abilities, including junior, senior and veterans teams. By the time I left I had become head coach leading an international team of tennis coaches. I represented the club as a player in the German national leagues.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In my spare time I enjoy keeping myself in the peak of physical fitness: running, weight training, Tae Kwon Do and playing tennis competitively at club, county and national levels. I am a keen motorcyclist and have full clean car and bike driving licences. Date of birth: 6/8/59.
