Pennine Juniors FC – Summer 2008 Newsletter
Dear Parents, just a quick update on what’s happening with Pennine Juniors FC.
Club Website
Over the next few months the club will have completed the development of its own website, the work is in progress and can be viewed now at www.penninejuniors.co.uk
Club Officials
Please do not contact any of the club officials or coaches during working hours, if urgent please send a text message. Parents should call club officials and coaches between 6pm and 9pm during the week.
Registration
We have now registered next years teams in the North Bury Junior Football League. Children become available to play in this league when they are six years old and above on August 30th. The club is affiliated with the Lancashire FA, with this registration the club will get Public Liability insurance. Any Personal Insurance (if required) should be taken out at your own expense. By the end of June we need to register all players, please provide your manager with two passport size photographs and a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate by no later than Saturday 28th June. All parents must complete a new “Parental Consent” form before the start of the new season (download from internet). Failure to complete this will result in your child not being able to take part in any football activities. You will also need to read the club constitution and child protection policy in the “compliance” tab on the web pages, and will be asked to sign a form stating that you have read them both (before the start of next season).
The Coaches
· All coaches have been CRB checked If any parent does get involved with training and has not been CRB checked,, they should call Sara Simmonds immediately on 07984 366691 to arrange for this check to be completed.
· Most of our coaches are FA Level 1qualified. The FA Level 1 course includes first aid, child protection and basic coaching skills. The club would like to thank all of our coaches for giving up a considerable amount of time to attend and complete the course.
Photographs
Over the course of the season, officials from Pennine Juniors F.C. will take photographs of the children which may be published in newspapers, displayed on the club website, or team photographs sold to parents in order to raise money for the club. If you do not wish your child to be included in these photographs please put it in writing immediately to Mark Diggle (Club Secretary) followed by a covering phone call to ensure he has received the letter. If you have officially requested that your son/daughter are to be excluded from ant photos, the club would be very grateful if you could discuss this with your child so that they understand when a team picture is taken, why they are not included. The club must be notified within 14 days of receipt of this newsletter or it will be accepted that consent has been given to include your child in team photographs.
Fixtures
Hopefully we should have friendly fixtures/tournaments starting from the end of June, the league itself will not start until the beginning of September. The club will keep the policy that all of the children will play a minimum of half a game (subject to injury) whilst playing in the mini-soccer (7-a-side) fixtures, on the condition that they regularly attend training. If managers do not abide by this rule, please get in touch with one of the club representatives as listed below.
Training
Training will now take place for all teams every Saturday morning at 9.30am until 11.00am at our home football pitches in Norden. If your child cannot make it to training, please send your manager a text message so that he can evaluate whether it is worth continuing with the session. Winter training will commence on Fridays at Hopwood College from 5th September.
Training Jackets
“Pennine Juniors” waterproof jackets are available at cost of £20 to £25 depending on size.
Complaints Procedure
If you feel that your child is being treated unfairly, please adhere to the following procedure :-
· If possible, try and discuss the issues with your coach first.
· If this is not possible or has been attempted and resulted unsatisfactorily, please speak to either Mark Diggle (Club Secretary), Martyn James (Chairman), David Simmonds (Treasurer), Scott Forden (President) or Sara Simmonds (Child Welfare Officer). Contact numbers below.
· For more information on our complaints procedure, please get in touch with one of the club representatives mentioned above.
Costs - Training only (for players not in a team)
During the winter months, the children will train on the astroturf pitch at Hopwood Hall College, Middleton and in Summer on the football pitches at Norden Community School. The charge to parents to cover the costs of these two surfaces is a one off fee of £65 or £7 per month. Cash will not be accepted, payment must be by cheque or bank transfer (see account details below).
Costs - Training and league games (for players in a team)
The cost of putting a team into the Bury League, buying kit/equipment, gym hire and all other costs is about £1500 per season per team. This works out to be £150 per year per child (based on squads of 10 children), however sponsorship and donations subsidise this amount. The costs per child for the coming season are therefore set out below. It is realised that this is a significant amount of money so the following payment plans have been set up (please choose either one).
Method 1 - One off payment of £130 before the 1st Aug 08
Method 2 - £70 before 1st Aug 08 & 2nd payment of £70 by 1st Jan 09
Payments should be made by cheque, payable to Pennine Juniors F.C. or bank transfer (account name PENNINE JUNIORS FC, sort code 20-72-67, account number 80765430). Please use your child’s name as the payment reference and ensure you make David Simmonds aware that you have made the payment. Cash payments will no longer be accepted. This amount covers all training/ kit/matches and up to two free tournaments per year. If a team is entered into any additional tournaments (subject to the agreement of the parents), a charge of £5 per child per tournament will apply. Each tournament will normally involve somewhere between 4 to 8 games so they are normally excellent value. Payment of Annual subscriptions – Parents with two or more children playing for the club will be entitled to a 20% discount. Low income families can also apply for a discount, please speak to either Mark Diggle (Club Secretary) on 07970 235110 or David Simmonds (Treasurer) on 07717 864909 for further information. Phone calls will be treated in confidence.
Method 1 is the cheapest method of payment, purely because the club gets the money up front, and has very heavy outlays (for kit, league registration .etc.) in August. Parents/guardians are responsible for washing kit and bringing it back every Saturday, if any kit is lost or damaged, it must be replaced at the expense of the parent/guardian. The football kit must be returned to the club at the end of each season.
Sponsorship
The club has recognised that over the past few years we have not done enough for our sponsors. We have now undertaken several initiatives to give sponsors better value for money, for more information, please speak to Martyn James or David Simmonds (contact numbers below). If any parent works for, or knows a company who can help with sponsorship, please let us know as soon as possible. This will significantly reduce the cost of the above for next season. The cost for sponsoring a kit is £300 per team. The club would like to thank Bob’s skips, Sensernet Homes, Roma Publications and Wingates for their kit sponsor last year. Also to Cowell and Norford Estate Agents, Lancashire Forklift Trucks, Marsh Finance and The Blue Ball pub for sponsoring the waterproof jackets. Your continued support would be very much appreciated.
Accounts
Pennine Juniors Football Club is a charity organisation. All management, coaches and helpers do this work voluntarily. The club welcomes parents to view the accounts at any time and ask that a request is put in writing to Mark Diggle the club secretary (contact details below) so that an appointment to view the books can be arranged.
Kit
The club colours are an AC Milan look-a-like kit for all teams. It is a red and black vertical striped top, black shorts with black socks.
