Wesley Chapel Pair Married in Cumberland Last Saturday [29 May 1937-ed.]

Miss Mildred Colbert, daughter of Harry Colbert, jr., and Harry Haupt, son of William Haupt, both of Wesley Chapel, were married in Cumberland, Md., last Saturday morning by Rev. N. Webb, pastor of the United Brethren Church, it was announced today.

Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Colbert, the former a brother to Miss Colbert. Mr. Colbert and Miss Frances Crowley, also of Wesley Chapel, were married in Conemaugh last Saturday morning.

Miss Colbert wore a white gown with matching accessories and wore a corsage of roses.

The couples left for a honeymoon trip through Maryland, West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania, visiting the E.D. Valley family of Brink Haven, O., en route.

Mrs. Woodrow [should read "Haupt"?-ed.] is employed in the Winters Beauty Salon. The bridegroom works for the Bethlehem Steel Company.

Wesley Chapel Couple Married at Ceremony in Conemaugh Parsonage

Miss Frances Crowley and Woodrow Colbert, both of Wesley Chapel, were married Saturday morning in the parsonage of the First Brethren Church, Conemaugh, by Rev. W.H. Schaffer.

The bride was attired in a blue chiffon gown, white accessories, and wore a corsage of roses. Miss Mildred Colbert, her attendant, wore a white gown and a corsage of roses. Harry Haupt was best man.

Following a wedding trip through Maryland, the newlyweds will reside in Wesley Chapel.

Miss Luella Findley, of Seward, and Roy S.V. Kunkle, of 201 Cooper avenue, Twenty-first Ward, were quietly married at noon today in the Lincoln-avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, Pittsburg. The nuptial ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. W. Jewett Miller, formerly of the Cooper-avenue M.E. Church, this city. The young couple were unattended.

Mr. Kunkle and his bride went to Pittsburg this morning by automobile. Following the marriage ceremony, they had luncheon at the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburg.

From Pittsburg Mr. and Mrs. Kunkle will motor to Washington, D.C., and thence to New York City on their honeymoon tour. They will be home after July 1 at the Kunkle apartments, 211 Cooper avenue.

Mr. Kunkle and his bride are both well known among the younger social set here. Mrs. Kunkle, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Findley, of Seward, graduated from the Johnstown High School in the class of 1922 and later attended Indiana State Normal School. Since finishing her schooling at Indiana she had been teaching in the public schools at Seward.

Mr. Kunkle is also a graduate of the Johnstown High School, having received his diploma with the class of 1917. He has been engaged in the mercantile business for a number of years. The bridegroom is a son of S.V. Kunkle, a well-known merchant in Coopersdale.

Burkhard-Ellsworth.

Miss Marie Ellsworth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ellsworth, of K street, and Edward J. Burkhard, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burkhard, of Broad street, were married yesterday morning at St. Columba's Catholic Church, Broad street, by the Rev. Dr. Patrick Vereker, the rector. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. George Horan, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.

The bride was attired in a blue transparent velvet dress, with a beige hat, and slippers to match, and wore a corsage of butterfly roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid wore an autumn brown transparent velvet dress, with slippers and hat to match. Her bouquet consisted of roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Gertrude Ellsworth, sister of the bride, sang Cadman's "At Dawning," and the baritone solo, "Ave Maria," was rendered by William Boes. After the wedding breakfast, which was served by the Capital Hotel, the course left by automobile for a tour of the Eastern States.

Mrs. Burkhard is a graduate of the State Teachers' College, Indiana, and was a teacher in the city schools. Mr. Burkhard, a graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, for the last few years has been in the employ of the Johnstown Sanitary Dairy Company. On their return they will make their home in the Burkhard apartments on Walnut street.

Kernville Couple Were Married on August 24 at Cumberland Parsonage

Miss Gladys Kimmel, daughter of Samuel Kimmel, of 733 Sherman street, and Colbert W. Varner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Varner, of 321 South street, were married on August 24 in the Methodist parsonage, Cumberland, Md., by the pastor, the Rev. Dr. C.J. Price.

Mr. Varner graduated from Johnstown High School in the 1923 1/2 class and graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in the 1929 class. He is a teacher in Joseph Johns Junior High School. Miss Kimmel was graduated from Johnstown High School in the 1925 1/2 class and was a student nurse at Women's Medical College Philadelphia, Pa. They will make their home with the bridegroom's parents. Both are well known and popular young people of this city.

COOPERSDALE COUPLE HAVE QUIET WEDDING

Miss Maud Boyer Becomes Bride of Charles Kunkle at Home Affair

Miss Maud S. Boyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Boyer, of 120 Boyer street, and Charles W. Kunkle, son of Sylvester Kunkle, of 201 Cooper avenue, were quietly married at 11 o'clock this morning at the home of the bride's parents by the Rev. W.J. Miller, pastor of the Cooper-avenue M.E. Church. Miss Elsie V. Boyer, a sister of the bride, and Homer M. Kunkle, a brother of the bridegroom, were the attendants. The ceremony was witnessed by only the immediate families of both young people. Following the ceremony, the couple left on the 11:25 o'clock train for the East to spend a week or two. Upon their return they will make their home for the immediate future with the bride's parents.

Both young people are well known in the city. Mrs. Kunkle is a member of the First English Lutheran Church choir and Mr. Kunkle is a civil engineer for the Cambria Steel Company. Both are graduates of Johnstown High School in the class of 1906, and Mr. Kunkle graduated from State College in 1910. Among those at the train to see the bridal party off were member of the First English Lutheran Church choir. They recently presented the bride with a handsome set of silver knives and forks with pretty monograms.

The Rev. W.E. Bassett, pastor of the Franklin-street Evangelical Church, last evening officiated at the marriage of Edward J. Burkhardt and Miss Jennie V. McGunigale, both of this city. The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. McGunigale, rear of No. 337 Somerset street, and was solemnized in the presence of a number of friends and relatives of the couple. The attendants were Miss Alice Lingenfelter, of Franklin street, and James Kirkwood, of Collins street. The McGunigale home was beautifully decorated with carnations, [unclear] and ferns. The couple received many presents from their friends and relatives, who partook of the wedding supper.

DIED FROM HIS INJURIES.

William Rundle Expires at the Cambria Hospital.

William Rundle, the Cambria forger, whose skull was fractured yesterday afternoon at the Cambria Axle Plant by a lever striking him, died at 8 o'clock last evening at the Cambria Hospital, where he was taken unconscious, in which condition he remained until death came. The remains were prepared for burial by Undertaker Henderson, and at 11 o'clock last night they were taken to his home.

The unfortunate man was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rundle, of No. 113 1/2 Sherman street, South Side, with whom he and his family live. He was born on May 13, 1870, near where Mr. A.L. Carpenter's home now is on Vine street, and he was married in March, 1890, to Lillian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Herdman, of this city, who, with one child, survives him. He has three brothers -- Elisha, James, and Joseph -- the former being married and living at No. 116 Sherman street.
