Rural Health Network Development grant combining rural hospitals and physicians to create a network for sharing patient information through a encrypted internet connection by funding the distribution of smart cards to patients, and readers and software to doctors and hospitals, November, 2006 for $540,000 for three years. Not funded, high reviews will be submitted again in July 2007.

October 2006

Quality Enhancement Project Grant pairing a sophomore level Health Promotion class with a junior level Community Health Class to prepare and present a health education presentation, in order to recruit people into the Community Health Program by exposing them to the work of the Health Educator. Fundedfor $8,500 for one semester.

April 2006Carol M White Physical Education Program Grant combining Kingsville ISD and TexasA&MUniversity – Kingsville. PEP STEPS Physical Education Program – South Texas Exercise Program. An after school program to increase physical activity of students and to meet or exceed the Texas State Standards for Physical Education. $980,000 Not submitted due to illness of the superintendent of KISD.
