A highly motivated, adaptive and positive-thinking individual with an acute interest in researching new innovative laboratory techniques and drugs for cancer patients. Having accumulated teaching experience and employment as a research assistant; I am now pursuing a career in academia whilst continuing to progress my research work in Oncology.
Current employment in research
July 2014- University of Wolverhampton – Research assistant
  • Use genomic approaches and advanced cell structure techniques under the guidance and supervision of Dr Smith
  • Competent in using cutting edge 3D organoid cell structure technology
  • Derive new cell lines from tissue samples and prepare cell line stocks for long-term storage
  • Teach, support and demonstrate research methods to undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in collaborating with senior lecturers and communicating results and progress at faculty meetings
  • Organise and attend regional scientific group meetings as well as workshops

  • Teach 5 hours a week on Research Methods and support/observe Dr Smith on the Cancer Genomics module for level 5 and level 6 undergraduates

Activities/Interests
  • Play football in a local 11 a side league;attend regular gym sessions and a member of Wolverhampton Cycling Club. I also enjoy going to the cinema, spending time with my family and dining at local restaurants. Keep up to date with current affairs and also enjoy reading science fiction. I am also a regular subscriber to the New Scientist.
  • Contribute to local science meetings at schools, colleges and scientific societies to engage public in science
