The vessel had a freeboard of about 14 meters and the pilot had informed Master that about one mile before approaching the pier, they will move to port bridge wing for having better view of clearance while making the final approach. However, due to beginning of light rain, the pilot decided to stay inside the wheel house and relied on the electronic aids. The Master did prompt him to the contrary but to no avail. The vessel had to spend 15 days in the shipyard for repairs.
2 / Jenny N suffered damage to rudder due to suspected contact with shallow patch in the turning basin. After completion of discharge at Point Comfort in Jul 2014, the vessel had proceeded towards Point Lisas, Trinidad for loading her next cargo. Shortly after drop of pilot the Bridge team noticed an abnormality in the rudder movement wherein a constant starboard helm order was required in order to keep the vessel on a steady heading. The vessel was stopped at sea for investigating the problem wherein it was discovered that the rudder was offset from the centre line by twelve degrees to port.
