CBA Travel Project

You are to create your own travel agency and choose a destination for a vacation to advertise!

*Research a city to visit (from the U.S. or around the world)

*You need to find any information that pertains to your travel location (you need to find some hotels, restaurants, and area attractions for that place).

Some Travel Planning Sites to Use:

*Now you need to “publicize” your Travel Agency & the travel location that you chose – both of these should be on all the following – be sure to include your name and class period in headers:

  1. Create a catchy name, slogan, and logo for your travel agency (Microsoft Word):

Create a name, slogan, and logo and save it!

Also, state the destination you are going to use for your project!

  1. Create a Web Site for your travel location (Microsoft Word):

It needs to be at least four web pages

These pages need to be very creative (I suggest using tables to align everything) – WordArt, etc. – this needs to be “flashy” – consider layout, color, fonts, background/theme, ClipArt/animations (clips online – stay in Microsoft Clip Gallery), etc.

The four pages could include: Home Page, Hotels, Restaurants, or Area attractions.

Once again there needs to be links to all the other pages – and any links to hotel, restaurant, and etc. websites for the location you’ve chosen.

Remember that most of the information should fit in your window – so the user doesn’t have to scroll a lot

  1. Create a presentation (Microsoft PowerPoint):

It needs to be 10 slides (including Title & Conclusion slides)

These slides to be very creative – use some of the same techniques as in the Web pages. Be sure to add in WordArt, Clip art/animations (from Microsoft clips online), transitions, and effects.

Remember that a PowerPoint isn’t very detailed – you don’t have to put a lot of information on each slide.

When you are finished, rehearse the timings.

  1. Create a One-Page Flyer (Microsoft Word):

Be creative – make it “eye-catching” – use Clip-Art, WordArt, Page Border, etc.

  1. Create a Letterhead (Microsoft Word - Example: p. 3.43).

(Make sure to include all the parts on p. 343)

  1. Create a Spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel):

Create a Spreadsheet with at least 5 hotels, their price for your destination, and the cost for 6 nights (use a formula!).

(See Example below) – Be sure to format your Spreadsheet (make it look “pretty”)! Format – AutoFormat and/or make changes on your own

  1. Create a Database (Microsoft Access):

Create a Database with ten guests, the arrival date, the departure date, the hotel, & transportation

  1. Create Table in Design View: Remember to format your fields according to data type, description, and length. The following fields must be included in your table, but you may add additional ones if you like:

Last Name/Text/Last Name of Client/25

First Name/Text/First Name of Client/25

Destination City/Text/Destination City of Client/30

Destination State/Text/Destination State of Client/30

Arrival Date/Date-Time/Arrival Date of Client/Short Date

Departure Date/Date-Time/Departure Date of Client/Short Date

Hotel/Text/Name of Hotel/20

Transportation/Text/Car, Bus, Airplane/8

Save – No Primary Key

  1. Create Form by using Wizard: Complete 10 Forms - You can make up some information for this – use friends’ names, use different destinations, make up travel dates! Begin entering the data. Be sure to type in all information correctly. Any misspellings can cause problems for running queries. (Use columnar.)
  1. Create Query in Design View: Construct 1 Query to answer a question. The Query should have at least 3 fields in the Query – using 1 criterion. Save the Query. (Example: Which clients have Florida as their destination? – Last Name, First Name, DestinationState - Florida in the Criteria.)
  2. Create Report using a Wizard: Create 2 Reports (for the Table and the Query) – make formatting changes (make it look “pretty”) and add the Travel Agency’s name, the slogan, and your name using a Label. (Use tabular - be sure to change to Landscape.)

When you are finished:

  1. Print:
  1. Your name, slogan, trademark
  2. Web Site
  3. Presentation – as a Handout – 6 slides per page
  4. One-page flyer
  5. Letterhead
  6. Spreadsheet
  7. Report: Table – Sort in Alphabetical Order by Client’s Last Name
  8. Report: Query

Make sure everything you turn in has your name typed on it!

Staple and turn in together – IN ORDER!!

Be serious about this project and keep it decent – if there are inappropriate things on your assignment, your grade will be a zero!
