OUR ORGANIZATION:

Mercy’s Gate is a non-profit organization whose goal is to understand and service the human needs of our community, specifically in Northern Colorado Springs, through direct support and integration of those people in need into caring communities and churches.


Our organization is currently seeking a Development & Communications Director to oversee our donor relations program and manage our fundraising initiatives, marketing initiatives, and communication initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our non-profit’s fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and building a stronger development team for our organization. This position involves managing individuals and corporate gifts as well as planned and annual giving campaigns. Responsibilities:

Implement Fundraising Plan

  • Develop and oversee our annual fundraising program
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure Mercy’s Gate Fundraising Plan is implemented and updated which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that fundraising goals are being achieved
  • Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary

Organize Fund Development Activities and Donor Management

  • Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities and grant guidelines to ensure strategic plans and critical fund raising processes are carried out in a timely manner
  • Prepare and submit grant applications as outlined in the Fundraising Plan to generate funds for the organization
  • Serve as the Special Events Coordinator to ensure Mercy’s Gate special fundraising events generate funds for the organization
  • Identify and develop corporate, community and individual prospects for the organization’s fundraising priorities
  • Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
  • Coordinate in-kind donations
  • Maintain ongoing communications with private and corporate donors
  • Promptly follow up with donors by providing receipt and thank you correspondence

Promote the Organization

  • Develop and oversea a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of Mercy’s Gate
  • Create a quarterly newsletter and annual report that increases awareness and solicits new donors
  • Coordinate the design, printing, and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Non-profit management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field
  • 4+ years fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of fundraising management including the management of volunteer resources.
  • Foundation relationship and grant writing experience
  • Knowledge of special events planning and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficient in Donor Management Software
  • Excellent organizational and leadershipabilities.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills

90-Day Introductory Period:

A90-dayreviewwillbeheldwiththeExecutiveDirector.Duringthismeeting,thetermsinthisdocument andthejobdescriptionwillbediscussedandrevisedasisdeemednecessarybytheparticipants.Issues resulting in a failure to complete the responsibilities outlined in this documents will be discussed and a resolution that is satisfactory to all parties will beadopted.

Performance Evaluation:

Afterthe90-DayIntroductoryPeriod,andifallpartiesareinagreementofcontinuedemployment,every six months thereafter a performance evaluation meeting will be held with the Executive Director. During this meeting, the terms in this document and the job description will be discussed and revised as is deemed necessary by the participants. Issues resulting in a failure to complete the responsibilities outlined in this document will be discussed and a resolution that is satisfactory to all parties will be adopted.

Evaluation Process:

1)Written Evaluation: The Executive Director will complete a written evaluation at least three days priortothePerformanceEvaluationMeeting.TheExecutiveDirectorwillalsoasktheDevelopment Officer to complete a written evaluation ofthemselves

2)PerformanceEvaluationMeeting:TheExecutiveDirectorwilldiscussinpersonthewrittenreview andcreateaplantoaddressanyconcerns.Fromthere,theExecutiveDirectorwillworktocreate a set of written goals and expectations for the coming two months. Goals and expectations will be based on job description and written agreements around workhabits.

Work Hours:

40 Hour Work Week

Compensation:

This is a full-time position with an annual salary ranging from $40,000.00 to $45,000.00.

Our organization currently does not have benefits to offer.

Leave:

Sick-leavewillbeallowedasrequested.AnyvacationovertwoweeksmustbeapprovedbytheExecutive Director.

Expenses:

Any entirely-work-related expenses will be reimbursed in full by the organization within one week of the date the expense was made. Receipts and/or proof of purchase documents must be provided for any expense. All work-related purchases must first be approved by the Executive Director.

Employment at Will:

All employees of Mercy’s Gate are employed under the Status of Employment-at-Will. Just as employees are free to resign at any time, for any reason, Mercy’s Gate is free to terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time.
