EXTERNAL EXAMINATION:

The autopsy began at 9:00 A.M. on January 1, 2014. The body is presented in a black body bag. When first viewed, the deceased is clothed in blue jeans and whiteAeropstale t-shirt and is wearing black with white & redUnder Armourshoes. The hands are bagged to preserve possible evidence. No jewelry was included.The body is that of a normally developed white male measuring 182cm, weighing 70.7kilograms and appearing generally consistent with the stated age of 17 years.Lividity is fixed and unblanching on the anterior surface of the body.

The eyes are partially open. The irises are brown. The corneas are cloudy. The sclerae are clear.The pupils measure 0.45 cm. The hair is light brown, straight and approximately 4 centimeters in length. The hair is encrusted with what appears to be blood.

A hematoma (4x6cm) is present on the left zygomatic arch region of the face. On the occipital region of the scalp, superficial laceration wounds to the skull [photo1].

The left region of the chest is present with 1cm in diameter deep hole.Skin within 5cm of hole tests positive for G.S.R. indicating wound entrance [photo 2]. On the back a 5cm hole tested negative for G.S.R. indicating wound exit. On the right side of the abdomen above the belly button and below the last floating rib, the abdomen has four transverse deep lacerations 3-4cm in length. The back has one deep 11cm in length laceration [photo 3]. The external genitalia are that of an adult male and there is no evidence of injury.Limbs are equal, symmetrically developed and intact. Fingernails are present and intact.The fingernail from the middle finger of the right hand has been broken.There are no residual scars or markings. One deer head (Browning) tattoo over left scapula.

INTERNAL EXAMINATION:

HEAD--CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM: Subsequent autopsy shows fracture and hematoma to the zygomatic arch region of the face, non-fatal. The hematoma and laceration to the occipital area of the head is also non-fatal.The wounds to the head are not consistent with the other 5 wounds to the (1) chest and (4) abdomen (description follows). Microscopic examination of the wounds reveals what appear to be grains of dirt or dust.The brain weighs 1,325 grams and within normal limits.

SKELETAL SYSTEM:Two fractures to the zygomatic arch and four hairline fractures to the occipital bone are observed by X-ray. No injury to the brain is present. Fractured 3rd rib from ventral to dorsalindicates trauma from front to back.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM--THROAT STRUCTURES: Trace amounts of vomit are present in the posterior oral cavity. The oral cavity shows no lesions. The mucosa is intact and there are no injuries to the lips, teeth or gums. There is no obstruction of the airway. The mucosa of the epiglottis, glottis, piriform sinuses, trachea and major bronchi are anatomic. No injuries are seen and there are no mucosal lesions. The hyoid bone, the thyroid, and the cricoid cartilages are intact. Upper quadrant of right lung punctured and full of hemorrhage. The lungs weigh:right, 850 grams red/black in color; left 360 grams, unremarkable.

CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM: The heart weighs 249 grams, and has a normal size and configuration [photo 4]. No evidence of atherosclerosis is present. Descending aorta detached above right kidney.

GASTROINTESTINAL SYSTEM: Abdominal cavity, 3 liters of pooling and coagulated blood along ventral side surrounding detached descending aorta. The mucosa and wall of the esophagus are intact and gray-pink, without lesions or injuries. The gastric mucosa is intact and pink without injury. Approximately 67 ml of partially digested food is found in the stomach. The mucosa of the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, colon and rectum are segmented, punctured and filled with blood.

URINARY SYSTEM: The kidneys weigh: Left, 120 grams; right, 115 grams. The kidneys are anatomic in size, shape and location and are without lesions.

MALE GENITAL SYSTEM: The structures are within normal limits.

TOXICOLOGY: A sample of right pleural blood as well as bile are submitted for toxicological analysis. Stomach contents are saved.

SEROLOGY: A sample of right pleural blood is submitted in the EDTA tube. Routine toxicological studies were ordered.

5. One (1) pair white socks

6. One (1) pair blue & white floral print boxers [M 32-34].

7. Ten (10) samples collected from under the deceased's fingernails.

8. Samples of Blood (type A+), Bile, and Tissue (heart, lung, brain, kidney, liver, spleen).

9. Four autopsy photographs.

10. One postmortem CT scan.

11. One postmortem MRI.

Manner of Death:

Homicide

Immediate Cause of Death:

Sharp force injury to the abdominal region, severing descending aorta made with an instrument with a width of 4cm and at least 20cm in length.

Time of Death:

Body temperature, rigor and livor mortis, and stomach contents approximate the time of death between 9:00 P.M. 12/30/2013 and 1:00 A.M. 12/31/2013.
