PRESS RELEASE: June 2016

NOTTINGHAM NEEDS YOU!

Volunteers needed for Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini Marathon

Runners in their thousands will take to the streets for the 2016Ikano Robin Hood Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday 25 September – and they need you! Community groups are urged to put themselves forward to join the volunteer workforce and help race organiser, Sweatshop make 2016 the best event yet.

The picturesque new route now includes more of Nottingham’s landmarks than ever before, and you can get front row seats as Route Marshals. Alternatively, volunteers can take responsibility to fuel runners young and old as members of the Route Water Station team, or turn up the volume and cheer thousands across the line as Finish Line Assistants.

Judith Manson, Race Director, comments: “Volunteers provide integral support to the success of race day and the Sweatshop team are incredibly grateful for anyone that can contribute their time and efforts. A huge number of runners will take part in this much-loved event and they’ll be hoping to raise thousands of pounds for their respective charities so we would love to have people to encourage them on their journey. Be it sports clubs, running clubs or even voluntary organisations, we want to hear from you.”

In signing up as a volunteer your team needs to be available for the whole day on Sunday 25h September 2015 and must be aged 16 years of age on race day.

Judith Manson continues: “Sweatshop is dedicated to helping runners be the best they can be and our volunteers can expect the same commitment. We will train you in your role and ensure you have the best race day experience. It will be extremely rewarding and provides a great chance to meet new friends and like-minded people.”
