Night of entertainment and insights for local businesses

On Friday, 2 August Council will host its new look Gala Business Event at The Boathouse, 6pm-8.30pm. This year’s premier business event will feature a cocktail style format, with economic insights, entertainment and fantastic food at an iconic Moonee Valley venue.

Moonee Valley Mayor, Cr Narelle Sharpe, said the new look Gala Business Event is a fun professional night out for our local business community.

“The upcoming Gala Business Event is the perfect opportunity to wind down after work and mingle with like-minded business people in an iconic Moonee Valley venue, with fine food, wine and entertainment”.

“This year we’re excited to announce Australia’s leading economist, Professor Neville Norman, as our guest speaker.

“Professor Norman will provide an engaging overview of current economic trends affecting small businesses, in a style which is engaging as well as informative,” added Cr Sharpe.

Portfolio holder for Economic Development, Cr Cam Nation, said the event is a valuable opportunity for local businesses to gain insight into how global economic trends will affect Moonee Valley.

“Not a week goes by lately where we don’t hear about Australia’s economy and what will influence it in the future, particularly now with the upcoming federal election.

“This is your chance to gain a better understanding of what it all means to us and local businesses,” said Cr Nation.

Professor Neville Norman has been a lecturer at the University of Melbourne since 1973, Associate Professor of Economics since 1992 and senior advisor to many business, state and federal government bodies. He has in-depth knowledge of business issues and opportunities across all industries.

Don’t miss an evening of economic insights, fine food, live entertainment and networking with local business.

The 2013 Gala Business Event is sponsored by Moonee Valley Weekly, LeadWest, Victorian Government through Small Business Victoria and Telstra Business Centre, Essendon.
