News Release Incident: Robbery

On Monday January 19, 2015 at approximately 6:44 pm the Egg Harbor Township Police responded to a residence on Old Zion Road, in the Bargaintown section of the township, in reference to a robbery. Officers Katrina Cantell, Mark Mensch, Ken Winkel, Thomas Rocco and Michael O’Hagan responded and made contact with the victims, Travis Thompson (19 years of age from Vineland) and 15 year old juvenile male from Egg Harbor Township who stated they were in the detached garage at the residence when approached by the two suspects. A dispute occurred and one of the suspects produced a handgun. The suspects removed property from the victims and then fled the area on foot. The victims were not injured during the incident.

The suspects were identified as a 17 year old male and a 16 year old male both from Egg Harbor Township. Both were taken into custody on Tuesday January 20th. The 17 year old was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose, conspiracy and possession of marijuana. The 16 year old was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, conspiracy and possession of marijuana. Both juveniles were housed in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.

This incident is being investigated by Detectives Reynold Theriault and Robert Harte of the Egg Harbor Township Criminal Investigations Bureau.
