NBA Post Season Tournament Information

We will be having post season tournaments for all age groups again this year. Tournament play will start immediately after regular season play. (February 23 through March 10)

Tournament Entry Fee - $35.00 (must be paid to your coordinator by February 14 as we are meeting to set brackets on February 16, must be paid at that time or you will not be included in the tournament)

Tournament Locations – Once we know how many teams have entered and we set the brackets, we will determine the locations for the various age group or bracket based on number of game slots that location has.

Bracketing - We won’t know how many brackets each age group will have until we know how many teams enter in that age group. As a “general rule”, we will try to move the teams that have had success during the league up and the teams that have not had much success down. Upper division teams that want to move up to next age group, please tell your coordinator when you pay your fee. We, the NBA Commissioners, will not move any team up in age unless they request it. Teams may not enter the tournament with conditions that they only want to play in a certain bracket or a certain gym. Tournament game times are very difficult to predetermine after the first round, so teams may not request that they not play on certain days. The tournaments can start as early as Monday 2-23-04 and you may have a game any night of the week including Wednesday nights if that gym needs that night to get it’s games in. (Some of the gyms will be having make-up league games the week of 2-23-04, but tournament games could start that same week. we will coordinate with each gym to be sure your tournament game and any remaining league or make-up game won’t conflict)

Rules – We will abide by the same rules in the tournament as we play in league. Teams must play the tournament with their league rostered players only, NO ADDING PLAYERS FOR TOURNAMENT. Any problems with a team during the tournament may affect your ability to enter the league next year.

Tournament Format – This depends on the number of teams entered and how we feel they should be bracketed but we normally have regular double elimination brackets. There have been cases when we have a bracket of 3 or 4 teams that we have a round robin format. We guarantee each team will play at least two games.
