RULES AND REGULATIONS

ELIGIBILITY

  • The Darwin City Championships are open to all current 2017 Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited registered players.
  • Junior bowlers are not permitted to compete in the Adult Division.

NOTE: In the event that there is only one qualifier in a particular division, that bowler will not be able to bowl or be declared the winner. All Divisions must have at least two competitors for that final to go ahead.

THREE GAME SERIES

  • In each grade, each entrant in the Trios, Doubles and Singles events will bowl three (3) games.
  • Bowlers may enter any one event or all events.
  • The highest three (3) game series in each grade will win
  • In the event of a tie in any of the events, the tie will stand and prize money will be divided equally.
  • There must be a minimum of two (2) bowlers per pair of lanes. Bowlers are not permitted to bowl on a pair of lanes by themselves. Bowlers can however bowl by themselves if a Committee member or a staff member of the Planet Tenpin Bowling Centre is in attendance and supervises the series.

RULES

  • All TBA rules and regulations will apply.

ENTRIES

  • All entry fees (including lineage) must accompany each entry.
  • No teams or individuals will be entitled to a refund after the entry has been received and recorded.

ENTRY FEES

Adults

The entry fee per adult bowler for each event is $35.00 comprising of lineage, prize fund and tournament fee. Qualifying for events is permitted during league play (TBA league).

When qualifying during league play, all bowlers competing (iein a doubles pair or trios combination) are required to be TBA members.

When qualifying during league play, it is a requirement that all bowlers (ie in a doubles pair or trios combination) are bowling on the same lane. When qualifying during league play bowlers will only be required to pay the prize fund and tournament fee in addition to their league fees for the night. Bowlers are only required to pay lineage for the championships if qualifying outside of league play as indicated below and during Masters Events.

Juniors

All events fee for all bowlers is $10.00.

Masters nomination will cost $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for juniors. Masters nomination fees will go directly towards prize funds for each Masters division nominated.

Bowlers who nominate for multiple Masters events will be required to pay a nomination fee for each Masters event they are nominating for.

NOTE:Persons who wish to participate in the selection for the RACHUIG, SENIORS, RESTRICTED YOUTH or PRESIDENT SHIELD Representative Teams, ARE REQUIRED to enter the ALL EVENTS of EITHER the NT or CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS in the year of that event.

AVERAGES

  • Cut off date for entering averages is 30th June 2017
  • Entrants must use their highest average up to and including 30th June 2017 or their highest average during the whole of 2016 (if they have not completed the required amount of average qualifying games), established in any TBA or structured league over 24 games or more.
  • If no current average has been established, the bowler must make application for a grading to the Tournament Director in writing, stating:
  • How many leagues currently bowling in;
  • Current average in each league;
  • Number of games bowled.
  • If an entrant fails to make application to the Tournament Director for an average, then the average will be set at 185 for men, 175 for women, 170 for boys and 160 for girls.
  • The Tournament Director has the right to reclassify any bowler's average as per TBA Rules.

ALL EVENTS

** PLEASE NOTE - BOWLERS WHO WISH TO BOWL IN THE JUNIOR (Open and/or Restricted) or, SENIORS, ADULT RESTRICTED, CLASSIC or ADULT OPEN MASTERS EVENTS MUST COMPLETE AN ALL EVENTS ENTRY.

  • Application for All Events must be made on the entry form and show the applicant's grade.
  • Entry fee must be paid before bowling in the FIRST event for that bowler. Only one paid entry fee will be accepted from each entrant.
  • A bowler's BEST appearance in trios, doubles and singles will count towards their All Events score, regardless of the grade in which they bowled. Mixed events (both doubles and trios) will count towards All Events.
  • An All Events Champion will be declared for every grade.
  • Entrants who bowl in trios, doubles and singles and who DO NOT pay the All Events entry fee will be listed in the official results but will not be eligible for any All Events prizes.
  • No bowler shall receive more than one All Events prize, or be listed in more than one All Events final standing.

PRIZES

  • Prize funds will be returned 100% on the basis of one prize for every eight (8) entries received.
  • An individual bowler may fill more than one placing within any one grade in which they are eligible to bowl.

PLAYING TIMESfrom 1 July to 29 July – Adults & Juniors – with the following restrictions

  • Qualifying is permitted during league play or open play
  • Bowlers intending to bowl Adult Restricted Masters-Junior Restricted Masters-Junior Open Masters must complete their all events by the close of the centre on Friday 28 July
  • Bowlers intending to bowl Adult Classic Masters- Senior or Open Masters must complete their all events by the end of the Masters events being held on Saturday 29 July, subject to lane availability
  • Bowlers who bowl events outside of league play should ensure they book lanes at the counter
  • ComputerScore and foul lights will be used at all times.
  • Bowlers will not be permitted to score their own games.
  • Pacers are not permitted.

PROTESTS

  • All protests must be notified to the Tournament Director or his/her assistant or representative IMMEDIATELY the infringement occurs. A provisional ball will be bowled where necessary, pending the Tournament Director's decision. The decision of the Tournament Director/Tournament Committee will be final

TIES

  • In the event of a tie for 1st place in singles, doubles or trios, the prize money will be evenly divided between those involved in the tie and no other prizes will be awarded for 2nd, 3rd etc.
  • In the event that there is a tie for minor places, the prize money will be divided evenly between the place getters unless there are enough entries for a place below that in which case the prize money will be added together and divided evenly between the tie and no other prize below will be awarded.
  • If a tie exists for the final place in the finals of any Masters event after qualifying has been completed, the tie will be resolved with a one game roll off between the bowlers involved in the tie. If a tie still exists after a one game roll off, a tenth frame play off will be bowled. If a tie still exists at the end of the tenth frame playoff, the tenth frame playoff will continue until the tie is broken.

DRESS CODE

Dress rules will apply to this Tournament and bowlers will be expected to be neatly attired during league and open play when qualifying. No singlets are permitted to be worn.

The following dress rules will apply for all Masters events.

MASTERS EVENTS

All bowlers must wear a collared shirt or bowling industry manufactured shirt.

Male

  • Collared shirt or bowling industry manufactured shirt and **tailored dress shorts OR long **tailored pants

Female

  • Collared shirt or bowling industry manufactured shirt and **tailored shorts OR **tailored skort OR **tailored skirt OR long **tailored pants

** TAILORED IS DEFINED AS HAVING BELT LOOPS AND TWO FRONT POCKETS (NOT DENIM)

Hats will not be permitted to be worn during qualifying events or Masters’ events.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Bowlers will not be permitted to use headphones for the purposes of listening to music and will not be permitted to use mobile phones to make or receive calls or texts, or use of social media, during Masters finals.

Players will be permitted to use electronic devices for the purposes of Pinpal or other personal scoring systems on such a device, as long as they do not cause a delay in play.

DARWIN CITY JUNIOR RESTRICTED MASTERS

RULES AND REGULATIONS

PLEASE NOTE: Bowlers who wish to bowl in the Darwin City Junior Masters event must have completed an all events entry and paid the prescribed nomination fee.

ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is open to all current 2017 junior members of Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited (TBA) who are under 18 years of age as at 1st January 2017 and who have averages, 159 & below for girls & 169 & below for boys as at 30 June 2017

PLEASE NOTE: In the event that there is only one qualifier in a particular Division, that bowler will not be able to bowl or be declared the winner. All Divisions must have at least two competitors for that final to go ahead.

QUALIFYING

Qualifying scores will consist of each junior bowler's All Events score. No other qualifying will be permitted. Nomination will cost $5.00 payable at time of All Events entry; this fee is added to prize fund.

The finalist field will consist of the 2016 Darwin Junior Restricted Masters Champion, boys and girls, providing the junior age restriction or average eligibility is not exceeded. The finalists will make up a field of twelve, (12) boys and twelve, (12) girls, based on All Events scores.

TIES

If a tie exists for the final place in the finals after qualifying has been completed, the tie will be resolved with a one game roll off, with handicap, between the bowlers involved in the tie. If a tie still exists after a one game roll off, a tenth frame play off will be bowled (no handicap applied). If a tie still exists at the end of the tenth frame playoff, the tenth frame playoff will continue until the tie is broken.

In the event that more than two bowlers are tied for the final position in the finals field, all tied bowlers will bowl in the one game playoff, with handicap, and will retire if they finish with a lower score than other bowlers. This will also occur if a tenth frame playoff is required.

ALL FINALISTS WILL PAY $80.00

Consisting of $56.00lineage, and $24.00 Prize fund

** Bowlers who are eligible for the Junior Restricted Masters and Open Masters and qualify in both are permitted to bowl both and will need to pay a fee of $105.00 in total

The final will be held on Saturday 29 July 2017. Check-in by 2.30pm for a 3.00pm start

The dress code as stated for all City Masters events will apply.

FINALS FORMAT

All finalists will bowl 8 games with handicap, in two game blocks, changing lanes at the end of each block. At the end of 8 games, and with handicap applied, the male and female bowlers with the highest pinfall will be declared the 2017 Darwin City Junior Restricted Masters Champions. In the event of a tie for 1st place, there will be a further one (1) game to decide the winner. If the scores are still tied after one game, a tenth frame play off will determine the winner.

No substitutes will be used once the finals have commenced.

PRIZES

FIRSTAutomatic entry into the 2018 Darwin City Junior Restricted Masters and the 2018 NT Junior Restricted Masters event (if eligible), plus a 2017 Darwin City Junior Restricted Masters shirt, and:

55% of prize fund, plus trophy
