Salary:SC6 Scale pt 26 £25,520 pro - rata

Working hours:17.5 hours (Part -Time)

Special conditions:Occasional evening and weekend work required

Job Summary:

An experienced outreach worker to support individuals and migrant community groupsto integrate and engage with the wider communities, advocate for their issues and promote improvement of the quality of their life.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and map out new migrant communities in Deptford.
  2. Production of a database of migrant organisations in the area.
  3. Conduct research into the needs and issues migrant communities are facing.
  4. Use research studies in responding to the needs of migrant communities.
  5. Engage and help migrant communities integrate with the wider communities.
  6. Signpost and refer migrants to get information and advice on immigration, welfare benefits, training, employment, etc
  7. Create a platform where migrant communities can voice out their issues and concerns.
  8. Engage with statutory agencies and raise their awareness on the plight of migrant communities.
  9. Set up and/or develop organisational capacity of migrant community groups.
  10. Provide advice and consultancy to migrant organisations on a range of technical, developmental, funding, management and structural matters.
  11. Encourage migrant communities to work collaboratively with others.
  12. Identify the training and organisational development needs of local migrant organisations and to arrange appropriate training and development opportunities for management committee members, paid and unpaid staff.
  13. Support migrant organisations in the development of quality assurance schemes, through the provision of advice, support, information and training.
  14. Work in partnership with other stakeholders including private, public and voluntary and community organisations.
  15. Work with the media to help improve the image of migrants and challenge the myths about migrants.
  16. Support and line manage Capacity Building Volunteers
  17. Monitor and evaluate achievement and progress of the project.
  18. Ensure that records are maintained, and are submitted regularly to the Director.
  19. Produce reports for the funder and LRMN management and trustees
  20. Supervise and support Capacity Development volunteers to assist with the work as resources and space permit.
